DVR records episode / movie but it fails to appear in library

Server Version#: Plex Media Server v1.15.5.994-4610c6e8d - Linux Mint PC x86_64
Player Version#: N/A

Both show they are recording, but at the end of the second episode it fails to find the file so vanishes.

Keeps on happening, another episode today just failed.

And again, I even checked before it finished recording, this was actually there!

Similar problem here. This has been happening for a long time, but I constantly have items scheduled for recording that say they’ve been recorded “successfully” but then no file exists afterwards. In the attached Recording View, anything that doesn’t have a “Play” button in it but is shaded blue allegedly recorded but now has no file to play from.

Tried disabling transcoding in the DVR settings to see if that was causing the issue, but both of yesterday’s episodes still failed to record. I’ve also tried updating the tuner’s firmware, rebooting all devices on the network, etc.

I was recording to a network share on my QNAP and this happened frequently, have swapped to recording on a local SSD and HDD instead, so far so good.

Diagnosis: Plex is too aggressive in the file moving code, doesn’t work well with remote storage, should be improved.

All of my recording is to the local filesystem.

Still hasn’t happened again since I swapped to the local filesystem, does your machine have a lot of other disk IO around the time this happens?

Thanks for the screenshots and log. Unfortunately you have debug logging disabled on Plex Media Server

Please try again to get similar diagnostics with also the directory contents screenshots

I can see that it relates to comskip - so you could disable it until the issue is identified

Threw together a quick recording this morning. Failure is noted in Plex Media Server.1.log at 9:50 AM. This is on a CentOS system with all updates, running Plex 1.15.6.1079. Filesystem is ZFS, tuner is an HDHomerun Prime.

Didn’t remember to catch a directory listing during that recording, but it’s now trying to record the next episode and the following is a readout during that recording session:

Thank you - i think I have enough evidence to refer to the development team

Thanks so much!

The issue appears to be when there is more than one file to move at the end of comskip/post processing

Based on that feedback, I’ve disabled the CCHeck variable in the comskip.ini file I’m using to see if that helps.
