It has become my new hobby to have to check if tonights news will record. After a few days it again stops seeing the schedule for 6pm news on channel 070. In the screenshots, tonights news refuses to be added to record in 2 hours and 20 minutes yet the following day is scheduled.
There also seems to be an issue with the “new” flag but thats another story.
Seeing the same issue with “daily” type shows - news programs. Recording looks good the day prior, but then disappears from the recording schedule the day of the show. Next recording shows as the following day.
It’s been inconsistent though, so am now monitoring daily to try and catch it and fix it the day of. The only way I found to consistently fix is to delete the series recording, add an individual recording, then add the series again.
this DVR feature in Plex is so unreliable again, issue has propagated!
For example there is a limited tv series release airing tonight, I’ve set it to record yet its showing in scheduled as “No upcoming airings” yet its showing in the TV guide as being set to record - I am sure it will not.
New and Repeat Airing is enabled as the “new” flag also doesn’t work.
This reminds me of an old bug from a few years back, pretty sure Plex gave this DVR feature the ass for a while then brought it back.
I’m seeing the same behavior. Only way to temp fix it is to delete the series recording, then record the day’s episode, re-add the series, and do it again everday.
I was thinking it was just daily type recordings for me, but seems to be most (but not all) my recordings.
The problem that caused this was fixed on the 2nd June 2023 and doing a guide refresh after the fix was released to our back end system would correct the guide data…
But bad data was in the guide between May 25th and that time. So any scheduled recordings created during this period would need to be deleted and recreated
I’m glad to see people reporting this issue as it has been a huge problem for me, as well. Things are loaded and scheduled to record (i.e. Daily News program), it shows in the DVR schedule, but then doesn’t record on the day.
Is this issue only present in .7210? If you go back to a previous version does it work?
@triks_melb - any idea what is the last version of it that worked for you? I just uninstalled and rolled back to 7195 and scheduled recordings for daily news shows look like they are working again for me.
@sa2000 - tagging you as well. From my situation it appears to be specific to .7210.
Also, I’m using Plex on Synology DS920+ running DSM 7.2.
Everything working perfectly still after rolling back to .7195 for me @triks_melb - might be worth rolling back to see if that resolves it for you as well
I would need to investigate the problem to see why it is happening
I don’t know if the issue is to do with a change to the identifier for the TV Show “7NEWS Spotlight” or some other cause
The diagnostics I need to start an investigation
A download of the Plex Media Server Database (through Plex Web Server Settings Troubleshooting web interface)
Giving details of the show concerned (as in the example above)
The channel the show is broadcast on eg channel 70 - 7HD Melbourne Affiliate: Seven Network (Australia))
Debug Server logs captured after completed a Guide Refresh - and you could follow up with another set of server logs later when the airing is supposed to have started recording but did not

I have just gone through a test of scheduling recordings for a News program TV show whilst on 1.32.4.7195 and then updated to 1.32.5.7210 and the DVR Scheudle and DVR Recording Priority were correct showing the next airing
I also scheduled a news show recording whilst on 1.32.5.7210 and that was ok in the DVR Recording Priority
Are you in a position to get diagnostic server logs using 1.32.5.7210 - capturing the logs when the problem arises and downloading also the database zip ?
Seven news is the daily that regularly causes issues, it did record on 6/30/23 but it’s all over the place - recording for 3 days then again not recording.
can start a log of which days it records on and which days it fails on but from my past experience (12 months) on a new Plex install:
Add tuner / scan channels
update guide
Set Seven News to record as a series via guide
See DVR Schedule (7 News Daily 18:00)
Day 1 - records, day 2 - records, day 3 records, day 4 fails.
I will go back to guide and set 7 News to record again - it may or may not add another recording scheduled to DVR Schedule while the old one keeps showing No upcoming airings
This recording schedule may work again for a few days eventually same problem repeats.
Don’t hold me to every word but thats the general pattern I have observed over the last 12 months.
