DVR Setup does not load guide data

After deleting my old DVR and adding it back to switch to the new Gracenote guide data, I get stuck on the loading guide data screen at 0%.

Plex is able to detect my DVR (an HD HomeRun Prime). It displays my channel list and prompts me for my zip code. The screen after I enter the zip code is where I get stuck. I’ve attached a debug log from the server.

Server Version#: v1.21.1.3876-3c3adfcb4
OS: Linux Mint 20
Tuner: HD HomeRun Prime
Plex Media Server.log (642.9 KB)

Same issue with 2 HD HomeRun Ex devices.

I’ve upgraded to v1.21.2.3943-a91458577 and I still can’t complete the DVR setup. The debug logs look the same as what I posted earlier.

Can anyone help me?

We’re being ignored on other threads too…

I’ll point out some of the possible reasons for no official response:
Linux Mint, not a Plex supported distro
Not the complete logs bundle of zip files from Server > Troubleshooting > Download logs.

You seem to be having a DNS issue. Something is interfering with resolution, a reverse proxy or other environment detail not provided. If running Plex in a docker only host mode is working with the older HDHRs.

Thank you for your reply.

Attaching the full log files here. Running mine in a Docker so interested in more details about your comment “…only host mode is working with older HDHRs.” Could you explain or point me toward relevant technical docs?

Nothing has changed in my environment since the failure except updating server versions and following the Plex prompt for Live TV/DVR to remove the DVRs and readd (which has now been failing for more than a month - no DVR/local channels). NO change in DNS and can find no other evidence of any kind of DNS failures across any systems on my network or other Dockers.

Version 1.21.3.4015

Logs file won’t upload, but can be accessed here: https://www.sportsforms.club/uploads/9/5/4/8/95487538/plex_media_server_logs_2021-02-07_09-30-48.zip

I don’t think Plex has a document on this but older tuners use the tuner service on port 32600 which opens random ports bound to localhost to talk to the tuners. Docker Host mode handles this but bridge mode binds to a different address. Newer HDHR tuners are accessed via http shouldn’t have this problem.

For the EPG change there were multiple steps.

  1. Delete all scheduled recordings
  2. Delete DVR
  3. Recreate DVR
  4. Create new recordings
You still have a scheduled recording point to the old EPG “CBS 58 News at 4pm”. Anything in the logs about rovicorp needs to be cleaned up.

There was also this error which you may or may not care about which causes the

Again, thank you for the reply. I’m not super technical and followed about 60% of what you’re saying here (sorry!).

First about the tuner service and port: Nothing has changed with the tuners or Docker or networking from when everything worked fine.

As for the EPG steps you list, the failure I see is on step #3. Both tuners are recognized on my network, but after choosing one, and entering my zip code to download the guide, nothing ever progresses past that point. The percent complete doesn’t move and the UI eventually times out and goes back to the ‘Live TV and DVR’ setup screen. Same behavior choosing either tuner.

You mention a legacy recording sitting somewhere. How would I go about removing that?

You can’t delete the scheduled recording till the DVR exists and you can’t add the DVR till your server can talk to Plex.

Restart the Plex server and then try creating the DVR.

Restarted as requested. No change in behavior of trying to add DVR.

Not sure its your setup. my Plex DVR (fully supported) is not loading the EPG at all either. I’m fully supported on Window 10, with the current version of Plex.

Can you upload a fresh set of logs after your restart? If you are still getting a Cert error we will have to flag down a Plex person.

Here you go: https://www.sportsforms.club/uploads/9/5/4/8/95487538/plex_media_server_logs_2021-02-09_07-47-52.zip

Thanks again for your assistance!

Cert is good, lineup matched and you still can’t see the DVR?

Try a different browser or incognito mode.

Following up on this. As soon as I switched from Firefox to Chrome browser (per your suggestion), the guide immediately loaded and DVRs could be added without further incident.

Again, thank you for your assistance with this issue!
