I’ve been tracking for a few days now, ensuring I have things setup right. I have the HDHR3-US Dual with two tuners. I try to record the national news on NBC and CBS at the same time. Only 1 show is getting recorded. Both configurations have the same settings and output directory. Previous to enabling the PVR feature in PMS, I’ve been using NextPVR. The “same time recording” works with my NextPVR installation. I assume it’s some sort of conflict.
What logging should I look for to see what might be going on with this?

There are a few other threads on here indicating that other users Dual tuners are only using one tuner as well. More than likely an issue with Plex since support for the Dual was recently added with the 1.5.0 release. Hopefully a Plex employee has seen one of the threads on the forum regarding this issue.
Thanks! Yes, I did see it wasn’t until recently my tuner was available for automatic setup. I’m excited about this feature though. NextPVR works fine, but it will be nice to have this under Plex.
Just in case any Plex techs are watching, I did a little experiment. I set my two shows, show B to start 1 minute earlier than show A. Show A has a higher priority though. Show B recorded for about 57 seconds, then show A recorded. Looks like the dual receivers are not being used.

Unfortunately I’ve had problems with this new version. Does Plex PVR expect to have exclusive use of my Homerun Dual? At the same time, I have Plex recording one show, then NextPVR recording another show. NextPVR was working by itself, recording two shows at the same time. I’ll try having just Plex record both shows. In the mean time, I’ll attach the logs.

I’m pretty sure there’s an issue with Plex and multiple tuners with exclusive access. Right now it’s best to dedicate a tuner card (the Dual) to Plex. Not sure which thread I read that in, otherwise I’d post a link for you.

I can confirm the above: Plex expects exclusive rights for every tuner on an HDHomeRun. It won’t work and play well with other DVR’s like NextPVR, Windows Media Center, or even a second Plex DVR server. If you previously used Windows Media Center, this is a bit of an adjustment, because Media Center didn’t lock the entire device, just the one tuner it needed, so you could share 3 (or 6!) tuners with multiple Media Centers and they could handle it gracefully.
I haven’t seen any comment from Plex that this is changing anytime soon. It’s possible it’s a very low priority on their list.
So yep, use dedicated tuners for Plex in this scenario. I currently only use Plex for the Antenna, and NextPVR and Windows Media Center share my HDHomeRun Prime.
Plex does not lock an entire HDHR device. It makes a request of a device to stream a channel, something like: http://10.0.1.20:5004/auto/v10.1 where 10.0.1.20 is the IP address of the HDHR and the v10.1 is the channel Plex is requesting. The HDHR will determine whether it has a tuner available and can tune to the requested channel. If no tuner is available the HDHR sends a HTTP rejection message, error 503 which is displayed in the Plex Media Server log file as Error 5XX. If you are using the same device outside of Plex then problems can occur because Plex is not aware that Emby, NextPVR, WMC, or some other application is using a tuner on the device that it expects to use for a recording and you can get failed recordings because the connection to the HDHR device is rejected by the HDHR device. For example, you have a single HDHR device with 2 tuners. You are watching Live TV using Channels, WMC, or some other application and Plex wants to start 2 recordings. The first recording will more than like work fine because you are using one tuner on the HDHR device for Live TV and Plex is able to record using the second tuner. However, your second recording will more than likely fail because both tuners are in use so the HDHR device will reject the request from Plex to use the other tuner.
Thanks for the feedback. I’ve setup the two recordings, both from Plex. Works great! Both shows recorded just fine. I also selected the option to remove commercials. That seems to be working great as well. I’m so happy to be on the Plex train.
