I have a Synology DS218+ that’s been running Plex with no issues for a few years. I have 2 Samsung Smart-hub TVs that have also had no issues with Plex. On both TVs, when I enable the Early Access version of the Plex app, it says my server is unavailable, but works fine again when I revert to the old version of the app.
Of note: on the early access version, I was able to configure a manual server which worked on 1 TV but not the other. Regardless, every time I tried to log-in to my Plex account, I got “server unavailable” with the new version.
What model Samsung TV’s do you have
A 2019 65" Q80 and a 2016 55" UN55KS8000
What is your secure connections set to in the server? If it is disabled I believe by default the apps are set to never connect to an insecure server. You should be able to change it to “on the same network”. Thats the first thing that comes to mind.
Not sure which worked, but you were right, I had “secure connections” set to disabled on my server. I switched it to “preferred”, re-enabled early access on my Q80, immediately went to settings and confirmed that “Allow Insecure Connections” as well as “Prefer Insecure Connections” was already set to “On same network”.
Now everything works!
On a separate note… YOU NOW HAVE A GRID FOR THE LIVE TV GUIDE!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
