This error has appeared in the last couple of weeks. My Echo Show has played music from my Plex server without a problem and the screen has refreshed once the track has finished showing the track now playing.
Now, however, whilst the music continues to play the screen stays on the first track played. Occasionally it will update itself but not to the current track but to one previously played.
After awhile the screen simply goes black. The music continues to play and will respond to commands such as Play Next Track etc.
Please fix this as it’s frustrating to see a screen showing a details of a track it is not playing.
Same here on three different echo show devices (different generations). In most cases the issue is after the first track and then the display is one track delayed for the next tracks. Sometimes it is synchronised after a while for one track.
Also sometimes the last track stays on the screen after ‘Alexa stop’.
Exactly the same here - when the 1st track ends, sometimes the trackname/album art doesn’t change at all, or the 2nd trackname/album art is only shown when 3rd track starts playing, etc. so all information on the screen is one track delayed.
There is a brief blanking of the screen at the end of each track, and I’ve noticed if you pause the track and resume, the artwork updates correctly immediately. I’m guessing the server is accessig and sending the right information, but Alexa isn’t picking it up during the normal track change for some reason. Any fix/tip would be greatly appreciated!
I have noticed that the display is more in sync with the track playing however, the screen has switched off (screensaver mode??). Plex is not keeping the screen alive.
It hasn’t really improved for me, except perhaps on one device (an Echo Show 5, which I rarely use). On the other two (two Echo Show 8 of different generations), it’s still happening.
I think I also had the problem with the display switching off on one device once, but it went away on its own very quickly.
The Echo Shows have already received several updates, I’ve also updated the Plex server on my Synology NAS to the latest beta version, and even updated the Synology NAS devices to the latest version (which shouldn’t be related to the problem) – no improvement.
The fact that the (second-)last played track remains on the display when playback stops is nice in that it prevents ads from being shown (which are becoming increasingly common on Echo devices lately). However, I’m a little worried that this will eventually cause screen burn-in.
I’m also not sure which software module is responsible for this problem or where exactly it runs. Does Amazon or Plex need to fix this?
You can always see that the display is trying to change tracks (the screen flickers), but the device doesn’t seem to be receiving the current track (for the display – unlike the audio)…
The problem persists, only one Echo Show 5 is now back in sync.
I also did a hardware reset on the Echo Show 8, which unfortunately didn’t help.
