Ending credits on some video’s starts 1-2 mins before they should do, can this be fixed?
i do not think Plex has any control over when the end credits appear. They are always, as far as I know, part of the video and not a separate file.
I do not think there is any way to control when end credits starts.
But Plex has surprised me before so there may be some control over when the end credits play, but I don’t think so.
Edit to add: You might be better off giving details of what is happening and all details about what hardware you are using and exactly when and how you see the problem.
Settings - Server - ‘Show Advanced’ - Library - “Marker Source”
Set this to “Local detection only”
Then perform “Analyze” on this single movie and wait for completion
Re-evaluate the position of the Credits marker.
If there is still no improvement, look at the video picture at this (wrong) time stamp.
Is there a lot of or very prominent text on screen?
AFAIK, there is no way to edit these credit markers yourself. All you can do at this point is to Plex Dance the file to force the server to recheck the credits again. Most likely, nothing will change.
Edit: Holy cow, when did they allow “Analyze” to force a credit re-check? This is fantastic if it works!
Edit edit: Yeah, it appears to work. Analyze the file, but change a setting first. See point number 2 below, based on Otto’s tip:
If the credits start early, there’s one of two things happening:
- Plex saw some text on the screen, and thought it was credits time. You can’t do much about this, because the algorithm should put out the same output for the same input (file)
- Someone else generated credit markers for this exact same file, but on an old (bad) version of the algorithm. Plex uploads all credit markers plus each file’s hash to Plex (the Company). By default, unless you change the setting on your server, your server will download the markers rather than generate new ones. Follow Otto’s advice and edit this setting before analyzing to see if this was the case.
The Dance is not necessary to trigger an new credits detection.
Yeah, saw your post RIGHT after I posted, and gave analyze a try. Edited my post.
Thanks, I’ll have a play around, I’m not going to mess with these other files as I have already watched them.
