@sa2000 @emilybersin some images of the issue added above

Again the same in 1.15.3.835

Thanks - I have passed this on. Emily is on holiday at the moment

Do you have server debug enabled logs for the failing recording with the Plex ‘New’ Flag and ‘[NEW]’ in the title?

You can’t schedule a recording for those types - it doesn’t present the recording options as per screens above.

Therefore i suspect there wont be any log!? I there is something I can obtain, let me know how and I with gather it :+1:

Cheers

You uploaded a screen with an error text There was an Unexpected Error for the “Won’t record” case - That was what I was referring to.

Perhaps you could put that screenshot in context now that you are saying you cannot schedule a recording. If there is an error, then server logs for that time would be good start

Can we please get an update here?

@niallparry_hotmail.com this issue is on our radar but we don’t have it fixed just yet. We are hoping to get it into a release in the near future. Thanks for your patience!

3 months now…

When is the fix coming?

Nothing further to say at this point. See post above yours

It’s pretty embarrassing that it has taken this long to back out a failed change.

As a plex pass subscriber who pays for the service I expect better - I’ve provided all evidence and trouble shooting, even pointed to the apparent root cause - yet nothing has been done.

The “Channels Guide,” “EPG,” “Channels Grid,” whatever its called, also messes up on Nvidia Shield. At around the 142nd channel down, the guide looses focus when trying to scroll back up. The highlighted channel/timeslot is nowhere on the screen and I have to hunt up, down, left, and right multiple times before what is highlighted comes into view.

Using the fast-down button does something similar, but it can happen anywhere in the channel list.

I would guess it is the case Android App wide

I know this hasn’t got anything to do with this issue with the app, but I’ve been waiting since the release of 7.15.xxx for a fix to allow playing videos stored on the server but with each release since then I’ve been reverting back to 7.14.9xx as this version hasn’t got the issue. I’ve and a few others who have this issue have been told the same “Generic” answer “The Team know about it, and it’s on our Radar. but we cannot give a time on the fix!!” The issue happens on Android 6 devices and some new version of Android and Pixel phones.

Plex Dev’s should really get their act together, even the EPG shoudn’t have been released till it was properly tested and fixed… but we’re only users and beta testers, what do we know eh?

Hope you get the fix sometime before say Christmas 2020??

Dave

I’ve just updated to 1.16.2.1297 - initial indications are that selecting record on shows with double New markings is no longer causing an error.

Will continue to test…

Hi,

I can confirm that the error due to duplicate New tags is now resolved in this release and recordings and series links can be carried out successfully

Couple of snags are apparent…

  • Daily news type shows (NBA: The Jump on ESPN for example) have no season/episode information, and therefore some creativity is required to enable series link - when I manually amend these i use month and day to create a episode number - eg 0708 for July 8th or 1225 for December 25th - so that is a potential avenue to explore
*On Android - when a recording is in progress -selecting ‘watch live’ shows a frozen screen - selecting ‘watch from start’ show the live channel - looks like these options need a fix

@emilybersin @sa2000

Thanks

I have looked at the data for multiple episodes on same day and they are identified differently allowing one to record all - so yes the issue with multiple airings with same name does not arise because the title is suffixed by “Part 1” and “Part 2”

The snags you mention are unrelated to the subject of this forum thread

The area of watch from start is being looked into at the moment with issues being fixed in Plex Media Server and Plex for Android

With regards to missing season / episode numbers, in such cases the airings are identified by their date. If this causes a problem please give details of what the impact is and giving zip code, lineup name, channel, airing. time of airing. timezone so that it can be replicated and investigated
