Not really an issue but more of a set of questions for Plex’s Episode Backgrounds, so first off is there a naming scheme to get Plex to pick up on backgrounds? and then secondly, whenever I try to add episode backgrounds on either the web client in Chrome or the PMP app it says it saves it (which it does) but the backgrounds section remains blank, so for all I know I can’t tell which i’ve added backgrounds for, and if Plex WAS picking up the background files on my PC I wouldn’t even be able to pick them because the backgrounds field is always blank.
Should just need to name it the same as the episode file (except the file extension ofcourse). Local Media Assets must be enabled. It will not select it by default unless LMA is top priority but should be available in the edit window to select.
Hmm. never noticed this before but that is confusing. The individual episode art is actually the Poster for that episode. the background is the fanart for the show as a whole (or a movie) which an individual episode doesn’t have so that is why not working. The background option should probably be removed for episodes, I’ll make a report for that.
No I know about posters, backgrounds are still used for when a episode is left unfinished, so on the “continue watching” section if you have a background it will show that, so it does work, i’ve tested it, it just is always blank, even when I upload something, even though Plex is saving and using it, that’s why I ask.
Edit: So if the idea is to remove backgrounds might I make the suggestion to be able to use the episode poster for the continue watching section? Because a lot of shows have title cards that show the episode title or have cool ones made that I think would work nicely on that section as opposed to the general show background.
