Episode showing in wrong season despite being named correctly

First time I’ve ever had this but one episode showing in wrong season despite correct naming. The file path and name is :

/media/TV Shows/Mrs Brown's Boys/Specials/Mrs Brown's Boys - S00E18 - Mammy's Motel (2018 Christmas Special Part Two) HDTV-720p.mp4

All the other files are named correctly and appear in the correct seasons, however the above appears under Season 20 and not Specials. Any ideas?

Have you vetted the file for embedded metadata w/ conflicting information re/ season/episode?

Whats the best way to do that on a Ubuntu server? And is there a way to remove the metadata if it does conflict. It was a straight download using get_iplayer.

If you’re using the Plex TV Series agent you can simply disable the option to Prefer local metadata ( > Manage Library > Edit...Advanced). With the legacy agents you could only achieve that by also disabling all local media assets (e.g. posters etc.).

I don’t have a metadata editor for Linux at hand – though I’m sure there’s tons available

Thanks for that. I’ll disable that setting so its prefers filename as they are 100% correct.

You might need to do a Plex Dance to make Plex forget it had already matched that episode into season 20

Yeah that’s what I ended up having to do! Never happened before and had tried renaming amd moving about 10 times already so must have been the meta data, didn’t realise Plex listened to that.
