Episodes incorrectly sorted as Specials

Some of my anime episodes have incorrectly been sorted as Specials. The files are correctly named just like the other files in the series, and when I open the files up in VLC and check the Media information and metadata everything seems fine, but when I edit the episode in Plex the title on the top of the Edit dialouge box says “Edit Patlabor: The New Files - Episode 2 (S0 E2)”, or something in that general manner, even though the file is names “Patlabor - The New Files (1990) - S01E02”. I´m guessing that the Season number S0 it was makes it Specials, but I can´t for the life of me figure out how to fix it. I´ve allready tried setting the title and sorting title to the correct syntax with no luck.

Anyone have a solution?

Plex actually expects 2-digit season/episode numbers in the season folder and sXXeYY pattern.

  • Check 1: are your files by chance organized in a Season 00 or Specials folder?
  • Check 2 any embedded metadata (maybe an empty season property)?

Lika I said in my original post I am using double digit syntax, everything is sorted the way it should be and the metadata in VLC is also using the correct syntax. I have no clue where the “S0” came from.

Anyway, I managed so solve it by just moving the effected folders out of my Plex library folder and back again with a scan before and efter replacing, and that did the trick.
