Error refreshing metadata for TV Shows

Server Version#: 1.18.3.2156
Player Version#: N/A

PMS Installed on MacOS Catalina 10.15.2

Currently I have a random selection of TV Shows that have Series Data and Poster images. There seems to be no correlation between time added if there is poster image or series data.

I have optimised the database and cleaned the bundles then requested “Refresh Metadata” on 1 series and I get the following error:

Error refreshing metadata for com.plexapp.agents.thetvdb://272156?lang=en

I have ensured the PMS has “Full Disk Access”

I’m wondering if other apps like python need similar permissions in the new secure application environment Apple has created.

Anyone have any thoughts?

I’m having a similar error with Movies over the last couple of weeks. I finally started watching the console logs as I manually clicked refresh metadata and saw this error. My metadata is still not pulling in.

Give this a go:

Interesting, my computer was already using DNS settings of 8.8.8.8.

But it had me thinking to the root cause, so I tried disabling IPv6 on my computer and then the refresh of metadata worked. Very odd is that i’ve had IPv6 enabled for years so this wasn’t something I recently broke. Something must have changed in the server or with my Providers IPv6 DNS server.

The only other setting other than disabling IPv6 was that I have my server’s internal ip address in the list of allowed ips without auth.

Since things are now work, i’m not messing with the settings, thanks for the help.

I have tried Clearing the Cache, turning off IPV6, still get the same error message:
Error refreshing metadata for com.plexapp.agents.thetvdb://80379?lang=en
and no updates to Movie or TV Artwork. :frowning:

So I decided a full reinstall may fix it, it did not. I did fully remove Plex and all its settings, re-installed, but I still get the same error message when Plex tries to download from TheTVDB :frowning:

There is another thread for the MOVIE data not pulling. Matching is ok, assigning fails.

I am getting this error on most items. Like 1 out of 10 pull metadata.

I’m having similar issues. I was able to fix it by selecting the show itself (not the seasons) and doing “Fix Match” and selecting itself again. This seems to resolve the missing metadata.

Ok, that will work. If you want to make it automatic on scan you will need to address naming

For me, naming wasn’t the issue. It was bad cache that never resolved itself despite one server utilizing the same filenames finding it fine.
