I have Sonarr running, it manages file names and up until about 2 or 3 weeks ago it didn’t have any issues. Then recently I noticed episodes had downloaded but Plex wasn’t picking them up. A quick look at the logs showed that Plex saw the episodes, but wouldn’t update the database properly.
Did the Plex Dance for some of the episodes and then they showed up but disappeared not too long after.
I can provide any log necessary. Just want to resolve this issue.
can you grab the scanner logs. from the last time something was added and library scanned. hopefully we can see if it was intentionally ignored or misidentified. (let us know the real file name)
Sorry for the delay, I was waiting for it to trip up again. The two series I know that are having issues are Brooklyn 99 and AP Bio. I see two episodes downloaded and added last night but Plex is not picking them up. Here are the episodes:
F:\A.P. Bio\Season 2\A.P. Bio - S02E09 - Dr. Whoopsie HDTV-1080p.mkv
F:\Brooklyn Nine-Nine\Season 6\Brooklyn Nine-Nine - S06E15 - Return of the King HDTV-720p.mkv
I’m having the same issue and it seems to be Brooklyn 99 that causes it. If I create a new TV library everything will be fine. But after the new episode of 99 gets added things break. Sometimes 99 will show up, other times it wont. But after that ep it gets hit/miss if new episodes for other shows will work right. In the scanner logs it does find the new episodes and it matches them. You just can’t see them in the client. On the next scan it doesn’t see any changes. I’ll make sure to backup my logs this week when it starts again.
Another thing that can cause issues is if you’re copying content to the drive and directly into the content location. In such a situation, when the content copy first starts, the Plex Media Server scanner can note the change and then wait 60s. If nothing else has changed at that point, it will perform a library scan.
However, if your content is copying and takes longer than a minute, then it’s possible for a situation to occur where the scan occurs before the copy finishes. Subsequent scans would not actually look in the directory because it doesn’t appear that the directory changed at all.
The easy solution for that is to not copy the content directly to your content location on the drive. Instead, copy it to another, temporary or “staging” location/folder on the drive first and then when the copying is completed, move it into the standard content location."
" Do not use the root of your drive as a folder location. It will cause problems. Make an appropriate folder and put your media in that, such as D:/Movies"
Sorry I’ve been out sick. What @JoePhelps mentioned could be the cause. It did see the file in logs. adding the drive letter as the root can cause wacky things to happen though
