This is with all my TV libraries being in subfolders under the root share. e.g. \Server\Share\TV\TV.
PMS will scan subfolders if needed. Just seeing it scanning does not mean something is wrong. Do you have your logs from when this happened so we can check why it was scanning?
Damn! I forgot to export the logs at that time, and they have now rolled past that point 2 days ago. Sorry. I’ll grab the logs the next time I see it doing this.
Here are the logs from this morning when my PMS did the folder-by-folder scanning again.

Something changed the files, but it appears to only be ep 1 of each season. This change queued those folders to be rescanned. PMS was busy with other things so it didn’t get around to scanning that show until 10:20 which is what you see in your image above.
I don’t know what caused the changes to those episodes to make PMS think it needed to be scanned but something did change.

I also don’t know what it is that is triggering this change.
I have tried disabling all backups, AV, and dedupe processes on the server.
Not sure what to do with this issue now.
Try setting the episodes to read-only and see if you get an error the next time it is accessed.
Good idea.
I will do that now.
I haven’t been able to find any errors in the Event Logs since making a bunch of files Read Only.
