Every new server update (Beta) breaks matching

Server Version#: 1.41.9.9961
Player Version#: 4.148.0
OS: Windows 10 pro

Oh i take it all back! would love some help getting matching back up and working in the lastest prod release. i forget what the full options are when its working but every time i update to the beta versions my “agent” when manually trying to match the movie/tv show only shows “plex movie” or “plex series”. Let me know if there is something i can do on my end.

If you upgraded a library to the current-generation apex agents (Plex Movie, Plex Series), there’s no option to match by a specific repository (selecting that agent, e.g. TMDb or IMDb). If you cannot find a match when attempting to manually match an item, you can include that item‘s ID from one of those platforms (e.g. imdb-tt1234567)

Hey tom80H you are likely correct, but it feels like way more work to do that for each title than to roll back and let auto matching do all the work. Do you by chance have a solution to get auto matching to work on Server Version#: 1.41.9.9961?

It’s working great for me.
If you’re getting no results, it might be worth looking into your server logs. Maybe there’s some hints for a network issue (there’s been some reports from users who‘s DNS failed to resolve some of the metadata lookup requests).

okay i realized that they go over my head lol. @tom80H do you have any tips on something specific i can look for in the logs as well as which log file? I took a dive into the “Plex Media Server.log” file but all it really says is:

Aug 06, 2025 11:03:13.837 [3636] ERROR - [Req#24731a/Transcode/Req#24731b] MetadataAgentPostProcessor: failed to find agent for identifier tv.plex.agents.movie

Sorry, I can’t do much with just that snippet of your logs out of context.

oh no worries! if you or anyone else who sees this thread is able to point out which log file to look at or even upload/post i would greatly appreciate it.

Just go to Troubleshooting in the server settings, download the logs zip and post it here.

Directions are here server logs.

We look for the entire zip that Kazz3r24 mentioned above. Often times pieces of the problem can be spread across multiple log files. Digging thru all of them allows us to put the puzzle together and suggest a solution.
