Everything in library is Aqua Teen Hunger Force?

Hello,

I got an external hard drive to use as a Plex Library and put the server on my MacBook.

I added four different TV Shows to the new library (Arrow, Not Going Out, Supergirl & The Flash (2014)) but they are all appearing on my browser as different seasons of Aqua Teen Hunger Force.

I have the videos stored under correct TV and Season folders and the files are named like this -> 17. Arrow - S06E017 - Brothers In Arms

I’ve tried different variations file names for episodes and even renaming them to be a different show but it comes up as Aqua Teen Hunger Force every time.

Can anyone help?

Cheers

I’ve been following those instruction since first using Plex.

It doesn’t help in this matter. Everything new added to Plex appears Aqua Teen Hunger Force

No, you haven’t.
17. Arrow - S06E017 - Brothers In Arms
is not a compliant file name.

And the folder structure where those files live in is also very important in Plex.
If you introduced additional, arbitrary folder levels here, those kind of mismatches can happen.

So please look at the properties of your library and see at which folder you have pointed your tv show library.
Underneath this ‘main’ folder there have to be only folders and subfolders as described in the above linked guide. No more levels, no less levels.

If your files are mp4 or m4v, you also want to perform these steps:
Go to

  • Settings - Server - Agents - Shows - TheTVDB

In there, grab the line ‘Local Media Assets’ with your mouse and drag it downwards, so it ends up being at the bottom of the stack of active agents.
Repeat the same under

  • Settings - Server - Agents - Shows - TheMovieDatabase
  • Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - Plex Movie
  • Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - TheMovieDatabase

Once you have everything compliant, perform the Plex Dance

If you still have trouble after doing the above, please enable ‘debug logging’ and post some logs after you have performe dthe Plex Dance with one show.

I do. The instructions at that link don’t always work.

  1. Arrow - S06E017 - Brothers In Arms is how I had to to name the files when I installed the Plex server on my MacBook to get them to display properly.

Yesterday I removed the server to reinstall the OS and no fie structure will work.

  1. The 100 - S05E01 - Eden is the name of the file on my older iMac and it shows properly in Plex

I need it on the MacBook because Plex my older Mac is no longer compatible with my AppleTV.

  1. Arrow - S06E017 - Brothers In Arms` is exactly what that link says to name the file

Okay, are. you talking about the “17.”

TV shows have always need me to put in a number in the past. I’ve tried The 100 without a number at the start and still no change.

I can only imagine that if you indeed made a mistake in the folder organisation. Please tell me at which folder is your tv show library pointing?
(if you don’t remember, Edit your library and go to the ‘Add Folders’ tab)
And how many subfolder are between this folder and your video files and a how are these subfolders named?

Okay that did it. Thank you.

I browsed all the way to the The 100 folder add it scanned it in.

So what does this mean? What was I doing wrong?

This is exactly the wrong way.

I cannot tell you what you did wrong, because you still haven’t told me what I was asking for above.

How can it be wrong if Plex is now properly displaying all TV Shows and Movies?

Because it won’t stay that way for long.

If it is working, then it is working. How can it suddenly stop?

You will see it. Once you add mnore items into your library, the current order will come crashing down.

I’ve added more and nothing is wrong.
