Thank you for the good explanation.
Just tried again with the latest release, still no thumbnail or video playback :-(

Which branch are you trying to use? If its Elan's, download the Zip from github...if you clone using terminal you get a very old version, prior to when images would be transcoded. If its Baa's branch, I have no idea...perhaps you input the DNS in your aTV wrong? Maybe your network is at fault?
I've been trying the version from Github. I used the DNS from the Apple TV prior to making any changes, which was 192.168.1.1, in the setting.py file. My entire library shows up, just without thumbnail artwork, and the "An error occurred loading this content. Try again later" message on screen and "ATVLogger : Player state : Loading at this time : 0 ATVLogger : Player state : Stopped at this time : 0" message on the Python console. I wonder if the issue is that my media files are located on a networked hard drive, but I have no problems playing this files either from my computer's Plex player or my iPad's plex player, all of which are obviously on the same network. Is there any other information I can provide to you that might be helpful?
FYI, I tried placing some media on my computer's own hard drive to see if that the media location was the issue, but still having the same problem with video playback and no thumbnails.
same issue here like nupedogg...

I also tried the new version, but I still get the same error. What Nupedoog just said, sums up the problem pretty good.
ATV & PMS IP is set to (192.168.1.10) Setting.py file is set to (192.168.1.1)
Here is a sceenshot of my log. But I cannot see any errors, except for the start/stop part.

Can it be because of the DNS ip we type into the setting.py file....In my case 192.168.1.1? dont know why, but it was just a thought.
Yes, the DNS IP setting does not need to be changed from the default 8.8.8.8. Unless you are using a special DNS service such as UnBlockUs.
Plexconnect should also automatically locate the PMS IP as well.
ok… i did try with the Google dns and it did not work either… Bummer! Another dead end!
I get this same error when running PMS on my Windows 7 PC. I am running Plexconnect on my macbook (can't get it working on my pc due to port issues which I will look into some other time). It plays .mp4 files fine but cannot play .mkv files. The files are on an internal drive on my Windows PC.
I have now got it working by running PMS on my macbook (OSX v10.7.5) with the files on an external drive but am not getting any artwork.
I am yet to try using the external drive on my Windows PMS, will try tonight.
Same issue.
Funny but these are also the same issues I'm having.
Um, I'm getting the same error on my iOS app now...
Which led me to check several things. Turns out my SMB mounts weren't mounted. That was the issue. Fixed here, works fine!

Everyone here seems to be having the same issues but no one is giving a solution to the problem. It also seems that the people that are having issues are the ones with windows computers. If it doesn't work yet for windows computer than that info should be provided unless someone in this forum got it working on a windows 7/8 "ATV3" and can provide the steps to get it working. Thanks
ranran are either of those OS's virtualised?
