Everything works, except video playback

ip_pms = 127.0.0.1

should be:

ip_pms = 10.1.1.252

Haha that was it! Thanks heaps!

I still don't understand though, how did it manage to get the info for all the movies when the IP was 127.0.0.1?

127.0.0.1 is a specially reserved address that means the host machine but it is not something that should be necessarily used in place of the normal IP address as it can cause issues e.g. if it is passing it to another device.

I have the same problem as all these. They all seemed to solve it by buying plexpass to get 9.8 instead of my 9.7.

Is that the final answer to this then?

For me i think this was the solution

It is hard to know if you have the same issue.
You do not need to buy PlexPass to have the functionality of PlexConnect, although when multi users comes out you will need it if you wish to use this (this is related to the PMS though and not our client).
If you read the sticky on how to report a problem maybe we can help you figure out what you actual issue is.

Could anybody help me understand why this adress is detected for my PMS server: 192.168.178.10 when my networkscope is: 192.168.0.1 -> 192.168.0.100

I've seen it posted several times in this thread. My solution was to reboot ma PMS host/PlexConnect 'puter and do a reboot on the ATV.

That is the placeholder IP in the Plexconnect Settings file. You can replace it with the IP of the computer hosting PMS, that might solve the issue if it is a reoccurring one. Make sure you edit the Settings.cfg file if you want to change it.

It might be better to use 127.0.0.1 as a fallback instead of random ip. Just an idea.

You are directing this comment to Baa and not the poster asking the question though, correct?

Yup, it was suggestion for devs.

If you are a Windows 7 user who still cannot get thumbnails or video playback, receiving the message "An error occured" during attempted playback, try the following (which fixed the issue for me):

On your Windows machine running Plex Media Server, navigate to: Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network and Sharing Center

From there, you should see something like this:

Where the blue links are for any virtual adapters (in my case, Hamachi and VMWare) click on them, and in the pop-up window, select "Disable" as shown here:

This should leave you with only your physical network adapters in the Network and Sharing Center:

Now restart your plex client (Apple TV etc.) then try accessing your library again through Apple Trailers.

I bet you'll get thumbnails and video playback without any issues :)

You can also disable GDM auto discovery and hard code your PMS IP into settings.cfg to solve the issue with virtual network adapters confusing PlexConnect.

Well, with 127.0.0.1 it won't work at all, right?

It might work for the menus and stuff IF your PMS is hosted on the same machine.

It will never work for aTV, as aTV won't be able to connect to PMS using this address.

The 192... address however has a (albeit very slim) chance to work. :-D

No, honestly, this address is never used as fallback address. It get's used only when PlexGDM is turned off. I never understood, why you would do that, though...

Having the same issue - I read through this thread several times and tried the suggestions - edited settings.py, settings.cfg, etc - no luck...

Just downloaded PlexConnect today so I know the zip was up to date, but still getting no cover art and it's not able to play content on my aTV3 even though titles/descriptions are there.

Any other ideas to try? Starting to beat my head against the wall on this one...

Thanks in advance for any help, it's really appreciated!

You have the same SYMPTONS. Please read the "read before posting sticky" and start a fresh thread will ALL the requested info and we will try and get you up and running ASAP.
Also you may want to start fresh as you should never edit settings.py, so throw away that entire folder and start again.
