Currently I have all my 4K content in the same library as my regular content. Where I have the same movie in multiple resolutions, I have them merged. Before merging, I applied a 4K label to the 4K movie.
I was expecting to be able to allow access to the library but restrict access to anything with a 4K label, but it doesn’t appear to work correctly? With the restriction I applied, Plex doesn’t show either version.
Is there a way to get this to work, or am I missing something?
Even more annoying is I found that if you merge 2 items together (with one of them having a 4K label), then split them back apart, both items end up with the label. That definitely seem to be a bug.
Plex applies labels to „library items“, not individual files.
You cannot currently apply restrictions vor individual versions. I guess that’s why some / many users keep their 4K stuff in a separate library to avoid mixups.
By merging your two videos into a single item, Plex applied the label to that item. When you split it, both items keep the label.
