When I name the extras correctly, they disappear from the main library, but do not show up in the movie page as “extras”, leading me to believe that I’ve titled them correctly, but for some reason I can’t get Plex to rescan and recognize the extras now associated with the movie.
I’ve already done the Plex Dance multiple times, and I’ve checked and re-checked my naming to make sure it’s spelled correctly. I’m out of ideas. Any help is greatly appreciated.
p.s. This used to work, but then I had to unplug my External HD and now that I’ve reassociated the drive with “Movies”, the new movies go in when I add them, but no longer do the extras.
Are you using the “-extra_type” naming or separate subfolders for trailers, deleted scenes, etc?
Do you have each movie in its own folder (along with the extras and/or subfolders)?
Can you provide a directory listing showing how you have the files named and organized?
If you’re running Catalina, see this post and this post about file permissions and external drives. It would seemingly apply to all media, not just extras, but might be worth a double check.
I have the movie in its own separate folder with the extras in THAT folder. The naming is all correct.
However, I figured out what the problem was. Even though I had the naming correct, as long as I have so much as ONE folder named INCORRECTLY in the folder, Plex won’t recognize ANY of the Extras. I hadn’t finished naming all the extras and I was surprised to find that the ones that WERE correct were not being recognized. I didn’t used to have this problem, but I don’t mind naming all of them if that’s what needs to happen. I’m just glad we figured it out.
Never mind. After working for a day. I’m having the same problem again. Now I know all the titles are named correctly in the entire folder but it’s no longer picking up the extras… Sorry for the back and forth, but any help would be greatly appreciated.
