Plex sound was good until yesterday. Been working on this and the only issue is when i play audio that is aac stereo. When the file is played in VLC it’s good, but to hear it through Plex, the volume almost is maxed out. Running on a win 10 PC with a GE force 970. HELP and thanks
HELP…I have uninstalled…reinstalled tried settings in all ways. It is definitely the media player I believe. If I play through the app on my smart tv, No problem, If I play through the plex server, No problem, It only has problems through the plex player that resides on my HTPC.
Which media player?
There are at least 3 different ones that run on Windows.
Thanks Otto…

Are you using an AVR to decode surround audio?
Or a TV device?
How is the computer connected to the screen and the speakers?
Yeppers…Sony AVR Sound goes … HTPC with Plex Media Server and player via hdmi direct to AVR. AVR direct to TV on HDMI with ARC. This has been running with no issues for years and just happened a couple weeks ago. Was going to try a older PMP but don’t know where to get one.
Thanks!
Oh… and I do have everything in settings checked for pass through up to 7.1.
A guess:
almost every sound format is “bitstreamed” to your AVR which does the decoding.
Therefore, most of the time PMP cannot influence the sound or the volume.
With the exception of AAC audio (which is usually not well supported by AVRs.)
While playing back a movie with AAC audio, press and hold down the +
key.
Well that did it! Thanks for so simple a solution. Am I the first? I saw no other threads…In any case, Happy Plex user again!
