Hello all, I reset my Shield last night as it has been super sluggish and its been a few years, everything was reloaded and all working well except Plex.
I tried everything on here although I also note the preinstalled Plex was working well, but I wanted the new one which was crashing almost immediately.
What I found just worked for me was manually updating the Google Play Services as the preinstalled one is very old and with our devices no longer appearing to be certified (right?) it doesnt seem to keep that kind of thing updated.
Anyway, I manually installed this and everything is working again:
Nevermind, still crashing, damn but at least more usable, currently able to watch films at least.
Did you read my solution above regarding ADB?
That will fix your problem
So I didnt need to install anything from the store to get to ADB I was able to get to adb shell from the command prompt in windows and I ran:
pm uninstall com.plexapp.mediaserver.smb
pm uninstall com.plexapp.android
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.plexapp.android
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.plexapp.mediaserver.smb
That got rid of all traces of Plex installed, was there something that I missed?
Okay, and did you go back to Play store and install the latest version of Plex?
Yup, I gave it a reboot first.
Currently not signed in and it is at least behaving with the default view, will leave it a little then try signing in again later.
