I have the latest version of the plex server.
the settings for both movies and series are enabled to download subtitles (opensubtitles.org), but it only works for series, not movies.
Probably your movie library is using the new *Plex Movie" agent. This one unfortunately doesn’t support the old opensubtitles.org plugin anymore.
OK. And is there any current way to get subtitles or is there any way around this legacy problem?
You can create a new library using the old agent.
Or you can employ 3rd-party software to go and fetch the subtitles and then place them beside your videos Adding Local Subtitles to Your Media | Plex Support
it was exactly what I did. I created a new library for both films and series. but only film stopped working and not the series. so yes, it is a code error.
If you create a new movie library, it uses the new agent by default.
Create a new library and set it to use the old scanner and agent – right even before the first library scan is started. This then enables you to use the old opensubtitles.org agent to automatically fetch subtitles.
