"Failed to run the package service"

Hey everyone. First welcome to Plex… Sorry you’re having difficulties. You shouldn’t be having any trouble.

Removing Plex completely from a Synology NAS requires 3 steps:

  1. Remove the Package
  2. Delete the Plex share
  3. Delete user Plex
  4. Restart DSM

Ok, so it’s 4. I lied. lol

Before deleting and starting over, I would like to see the logs and find out why Plex is failing to start. Until we know the root cause, it will happen again.

  1. Control Panel - Shared Folders - Edit the Plex share - Permissions - Add your username
  2. File Station - Plex - Library - Application Support - Plex Media Server
  3. Right-click Logs and Compress to Logs.zip
  4. Download that file (created in the Plex Media Server directory) to your computer
  5. Upload the ZIP here for me to examine.
