Plex Media Server not starting on Synology DS1019+ "Failed to run the package service"

I’ve gone through the entirety of the troubleshooting in this thread.

It still doesn’t run! ANY help will be gratefully appreciated.

are you able to SSH into the Synology?

Yes I can SSH in to the synology.

SSH into it.

  1. su - or sudo -su root (whichever is easier for you) to get to the root prompt
  2. cd /var/packages/Plex*/scripts (the * saves typing)
  3. ./start-stop-status start

See what the console returns.

I did and this is what I got.

Starting Plex ...

Plex is still not running.

I didn’t expect it to run.
I was hoping it would print out errors but none showed.

Please go back to File Station.
Open the Plex share
Drill down into Library -> until you see Logs
Right-click Logs and Compress to Logs.zip

download and attach that please.

Please read through here carefully.

As you replace the com.plexapp.plugins.library.db, remember to delete the WAL and SHM file which are matched to it if they exist.

Ask if any questions.

today i updated the Plex application and when i went to run it, i received the message “failed to run the package service”. i have tried to uninstall PMS and re-install with no luck. how can I get plex running again. DS920+

Please go to the Logs directory,

Right-Click Logs then Compress to Logs.zip

download and attach that ZIP file please.

Sorry, that’s not what I was hoping for.

File Station -> Plex share -> Library - Application Support - Plex Media Server -> Logs

Make a ZIP of this folder please.

Thank you for the path steps. I found “logs” and right click on the folder and download. It creates a zip file but it error out when i try to upload it. The file size is 119,500KB. Maybe this is too large?

That’s the wrong file then.. your logs should be 25-50 MB maximum before compressing.

It seems like you compressed the entire Plex share.

also here is a screen shot of my directory file. My plex data (movies etc) are stored in the folder above Plex (Movies, Music, Pictures) Not sure if this makes a difference
