Failed to Send Invite

Server Version#: Version 4.52.1

Yet another thread with this issue. I invited a friend to my plex server. She was having problems and seemed to accidently deleted the connection? I’m not sure about that. So I decided to delete the friends share and send a brand new invite. Only whenever I attempt to send the new invite I just get the error “Failed to Send Invite” and the status remains in “Invite Pending” status forever.

They have a pending invite already they need to accept it with the email that begins with L. Are you sure they don’t see anything on their end at https://app.plex.tv/desktop#!/settings/users-sharing

For the other email that is basically the same but ends with +plex. they would need to create a new account for with that email after clicking on link in invite email. (they would need to sign out any other account first)

if you mean a different email please message it to me and I can check

The second email was my attempt to workaround the issue. By adding a + to the email, the is still sent to the same e-mail. This way they received the invite. But it is unclear if it will actually work when clicking on it.

The problem is basically they already accepted the invite on the first e-mail in the past, and set everything up. Then somehow they became disconnected. So I deleted the share and recreating it. Now plex simply stubbornly refuses to send the invite or give me a link again. It is just the “Failed to Send Invite” error that has literally been reported hundreds of times in this forum again, and always seems to involve getting somone on the plex team to resolve it on your end.

I doubt my e-mail hack will work, but I thought it was worth a try.

As for the https://app.plex.tv/desktop#!/settings/users-sharing link, I doubt they have tried this. I was looking for a link the can try to see if there are invites that were delivered by e-mail, but I couldn’t find one. This might be just the link they need.

Really invites should not be tied to the e-mail address we send it to, to be the plex e-mail, unless we specifically specify that is what we want.

I personally use a catch-all domain, and never give anyone an e-mail address I consider secure like my plex e-mail. Although, I suppose they could easily guess it. There is no real valid reason to assume anyone’s public e-mail address will also be their plex account login. The e-mail address is just specifying where we want the invite sent. But that is an issue that can be resolved at another time.
