Windows PC (consistently troube-free) connected to Formuler Z11 Pro on TV
Downloaded everything according to instructions today.
Initially the server buffered continually on PC.
Rerunning gave additional instructions and asked for credit card details, giving 14 day free trial.
The server didn’t ask for details of my client-device or its location.
It went dead.
What “went dead”? The server crashed and stopped? The app on the client you’re using crashed, gave an error?
Did you try on multiple clients? Mobile, plex desktop, another computer?
Did you confirm your server and clients are on the same subnet? No device isolation rules on your router?
Is the windows network connection set to “private” vs “public”? Public will block local connections to the server and send plex remote, giving you the prompt to buy a pass.
If you’re getting the pass prompt in a browser, are you using app.plex.tv vs the local direct sever ip url? Make sure the browser has local network access: Important note about the Plex Web app - Local Network Access
Any vpn running on the server?
The server silently stopping right at the start is usually caused by a Torrent client already running. These snatch up a myriad of port numbers. So, stop other apps from running, then try to run Plex server again.
Another thing that can happen is,if you’ve changed the location of the Plex data folder away from the default on C:, a new install on the same machine tries to use that changed location as well (unless you’ve reverted the registry change manually). It never does that,if the server was previously installed (or if there is no ‘default’ web browser defined).
After installing the server, all it does is adding a Plex logo to the task tray.
