Faulty maturity restrictions? some media not visible on different profiles

I have a family user account set to teen restrictions (pg-13) and set to view two libraries. Inside that library I added a couple of movies (spiderman 1, 2 for example which are both pg-13)

This teen account can only see spiderman 2 but not spiderman 1. I confirmed this file is active and seen by plex by logging into the admin account where I can see spiderman 1 in the library where it is supposed to be but on the teen account it can’t see it. Can someone help figure out why this happens? It appears to be a fault of the maturity rating restrictions

The most important check would be to go to the missing movie’s preplay page (using the Admin account, ofc), “Edit” it and then look at the content of the rating field.

Also important is whether this movie is part of a collection. If collections have been set to show only their posters but not those of their “members”, you need to set an age rating on the collection as well.

Thanks. Found this file was missing the maturity rating. Once set to pg-13 it then appeared in the teen account.

This could have been caused by embedded meta tags in a mp4 video file.
If this movie is in a mp4/m4v container, either

  • disable “Pefer local metatags” in the properties of the library, or
  • clean out/correct the embedded meta tags
    mp3tag
