Love it
Not a solution, but in the mean while the feature is implemented I found Emby to give you far more control over users and devices…

This need to be a thing!
+1, would love to see this, expanded my server capacity, and opened up a few more shared accounts with family…they’re clearly sharing with friends and would love to limit that.
+1 Needs to be implemented
+1 - Need this to happen
+1 - Agree with everyone else!
It would be good to get a dev to comment on this much needed feature.
+1 - This would be a great feature.
Just had to remove someone’s access as they had shared their login. Annoying but I did warn them.

+1 to this much needed feature!I’ve instituted a “no sharing” policy with zero tolerance - anyone I catch sharing accounts gets disabled immediately, but I would love to not have to take such a stance at all by having this feature. It would be nice to not have to run my Plex server like the dictatorship of a small country.
But was is legit vs not when it comes to sharing? If you give access to a friend or family member and they have 3 client devices in their house you’re bound at times to see 2 or 3 connections coming from this user as different family members will happen to use your Plex server at the same time. In their minds they aren’t doing anything wrong.
So you would not want to “ban” or remove this user. But if you could limit the streams to 1 or 2 per ID then you can take matters into your own hands from the server side.

+1 +1 +1… Yes please, a concurrent connection limit per user account, or by IP / device ID would be very useful, as would be a thottling feature to limit the total number of concurrent connections to a particular server instance. Also, the capability to disconnect a currently running stream being watched by a specific user would also be helpful.
+1 Thank you very much
I also would love these options, but I would also like to approve devices I.E. setup a friend have him connect with the device or devices at the time of setup and approve just those devices for use, if he goes toa friends house and trys to connect to plex have it tell him the device isn’t approved.
+1 Thank you!
+1 This is Needed
1-2 Streams Per User,
Over +9000!
+Plus I suggest, server owner/admin must have first priority of own streaming content!
+1, it would be a very useful feature.
To everyone that want this feature, like the first post in this thread to up-vote the suggestion, don’t just post a +1 comment.
+1, this is a must have feature.
+1 to this!
