There are lots of feature requests regarding Pre-Rolls, but I couldn’t find one for the most obvious…
Pre-Roll option for TV Shows please!
A list of some other features which the community would find very beneficial regarding pre-rolls, some were suggested by others but thought it would be good to get them all into one thread:
Use a folder instead of having to list multiple pre-rolls. Separate folders to choose from for movies and tv shows would be ideal![Mod-Edit: duplicate]
A tick option for “Sequential” or “Random”.
An option for how many pre-rolls to play.
Options for when to play Pre-Rolls. Suggest “Before Trailer”, “Before Show”, “After show”.[Mod-Edit: duplicate]
An Options in video to select specific Pre-Rolls for certain shows based on what is in the folder.[Mod-Edit: duplicate]
Buffer the show while pre-roll is playing to get a seamless transition between pre-roll and show.[Mod-Edit: duplicate(s) → 1, 2]
Option to mix random with sequential pre-rolls. Use comma for sequential, semi-colon for random. For example: Roll1, Roll2, Roll3a; Roll3b; Roll3c, Roll 4…[Mod-Edit: duplicate(s) → 1, 2]
Option to add pre-roll to collections.[Mod-Edit: duplicate]
Option to tag pre-rolls with a genre so they play the right genre with what you are watching.[Mod-Edit: duplicate]
Thanks for adding pre-rolls to movies! Now lets get the rest done! Thanks PLEX and all pre-roll creators!

This would be much appreciated if it was implemented - Being able to set pre-rolls for separate libraries would be fantastic. More cinematic one for films, and a shorter one for TV series is where I want to get too!
I would also like to add that allowing multiple random pre-rolls would also be a good feature, it isn’t that difficult to split by comma to play each pre-roll item sequentially and if one item in the comma list contains a semi-colon list it picks a random video to play then continues on to the next item in the comma list.
I’ll bring this back from the dead just to say I really wish we had better pre-roll control!
I re-created just over 30 of the Adult Swim B&W bumpers to use, and it would be so nice to be able to apply them on a per-series basis (and have options so that it can either play after every episode, every other episode, and so on).
I just discovered pre-rolls. And yeah, I went nuts and added like 55. Then I realized I could download a whole pack of Halloween pre-rolls! Yay… BUT HOLY CRAP I should be able to just point to a different folder rather than typing out all the paths! By folder is an obvious minimum. By library/genre/etc would be even better, but start with at least allowing folders (or regex, wildcards, etc). Please please please.
This one is a tough nut to crack as it combines so many suggestions which overlap with existing requests. While this thread has collected a noticeable amount of votes I’m still thinking to close it to avoid mixing up votes (also keeping the rules for submitting suggestions in mind)
The reason I had put this thread together in the first place was because there were so many Pre-roll suggestions. Obviously there was significant interest in the subject.
I thought it unlikely they would get traction on their own due to the few votes for each (mostly because we all only get 5 votes and cannot vote for them all).
If you close this thread, it is likely the interest will not get noticed.
I love having the pre-roll feature for Movie libraries, but I would like to see this extended to support TV Shows as well.
I’d like to be able to show trailers of other TV shows currently in my library, but primarily I would be able to set my own custom pre-roll[s], just as the Movie configuration allows.
A lot of users would love this and it seams very simple to implement, but plex is a very odd company and I am not sure what their “goal” is but its not giving us what we want
I wouldn’t go that far; they make a great platform and product and I understand that the main focus is streaming and library content.
I’d rather have that be solid than worrying about these weird little one-off requests, like the one I’ve made. It’s not a priority of mine, just something that is nice to have.
They have their priorities just like everyone else
Yea I’ve made some great custom pre-rolls but a lot of my Plex users watch TV Shows rather than movies. Ability to show it for TV Shows would be awesome, or maybe a per library basis of some sort.
