File Compatability

Oddball problem. When I convert my Blu Rays via MKV/Handbrake, I have ZERO compatibility issues. It plays fine whether they are movies or TV show episodes.

I download streaming files via CloudTV and movies are fine after I use Handbrake’s FAST 1080 setting, no issues at all.

But TV episodes which are MP4 files - they play fine in QT on my Mac bt they will NOT play in Plex (or show up as a file).

Is it because I just place my TV shows in files/folders in my PLEX MOVIES folder - is Plex that exacting? So I need to create a TV listing?? Is there some setting I missed out on that TV files will not play unless I convert as another Mp4 setting?

TV Shows won’t work in Movie Libraries. Period.

Now you have the TV Show library - it won’t work without the proper file names and structures:

Using MP4/M4V files, you say? Do this:

With LMA in priority, Embedded Titles within MP4/M4V files are preferred - even over a perfect file name. Local Media Assets should - AT ALL TIMES - remain enabled (unless specifically instructed to turn it off). Local Media Assets should be ‘Demoted’, to the bottom of the stack of active agents under ALL tabs in Shows and Movies, but should NOT be disabled. As you battle Plex Tooth and nail - naming/renaming/restructuring/etc., there will come a time when you just have to start over. The Plex Dance is the ‘Do-Over’:
