File scan skipping specific named dir?

I have been running plex for years with minimal issues. after expanding the server by an additional expansion on storage (im running about 100TB) i did some additional reorganization of some directories. I noticed very strange behaviour in that it said some but not all movies are no longer available. at first i thought it was just a permissions thing, i set up a test library and pointed to a test folder. after step by step trouble shooting i can now confirm with repeatable reliability that if i name a folder “other” or “Other” the scanner does not scan the folder. It appears that I can rename it anything else and it works. Is there a reason the scanner would stop scanning a folder with a specific name? I know im running an older version of the server and will update at a later time(because reasons) I would still like to know what is causing this behaviour so it can at least work around it.

Other is a reserved name that’s used for local extras (same as Deleted Scenes, Featurettes…). Items found in that folder are considered to be a local extra of type “other video/clip” and belong to the movie where the folder is located.

interesting. Odd that other was working up until now. I guess ill have to hunt them all down and rename them
