Files unavailable after upgrade to 1.20.0.3181

I recently upgraded the DSM version on my Synology DS214play to DSM 6.2.3-25426 Update 2 and after this my media files were no longer accessible. I made the plex user an admin with R/W access and all was fine once more. A few days ago I upgraded my PMS version to 1.20.0.3181 and the same thing happened again, i.e. my media files were no longer accessible. However, this time the plex user is still an admin with R/W access so I am at a loss to know what to do.

Answered my own questions. Turns out after upgrading the PMS version, I had to downgrade the plex user back to what it was before the DSM upgrade. Only wasted a couple of hours on this!

I’m having the same issue after updating my DS918+ to 6.2.3-25426 Update 2, except it’s only effecting my Movie folder; Plex can still see/play TV and Music just fine. I have gone through all the troubleshooting steps described in this thread to no avail. When trying to play a movie there’s a very obvious permissions error, yet on the Synology the permissions for all folders are the same.

Update: Found the culprit, for some reason my /volume1/movies folder was owned by transmission. Changed this as well as user/group permissions to match my other media folders and it’s working again.

You’re in a Synology forum thread.
I don’t know how that’s accomplished on WD.
If anything like a Syno box, you need to grant permission for user Plex to read the media share(s).

Well, I started this thread and then managed to fix my original problem. However, I was having strange problems after this whereby my video files were showing as unavailable but restarting PMS fixed it. I then upgraded to version 1.20.1.3213 and, once again, my video files are unavailable, but as before, my music files and photos are fine. Just to remind anyone that can help, I am running on a Synology DS214play running DSM 6.2.3-25426 Update 2. As far as I can see my settings for the video share are the same as the music share.

Any suggestions/help would be gratefully received.
