I enjoy the duplicate feature in the filtering tool on the Plex Server. I was wondering if more “Admin Features” could be added to the Plex Server to search through my media list. I have over 10,000 media file and it’s hard to find all the unmatched media in the any of my folders.
If we could have an option to filter on all unmatched as we do for duplicate, it would be really helpful.
At the same time, would it be possible to get a feature that allows Plex to rename the files (would require admin approval for each file) so that if we have to rebuild the database from scratch, all the matching works automatically?
Once a file is scanned and known to Plex, a simple re-name should not throw it off balance. Instead Plex should be able to recognize this is a “known” file when you scan the library the next time based on a hash/fingerprint it stores in its database.
This is one of the reasons why you have to go through the “Plex Dance” to make Plex forget a record
An unmatched filter is coming. I don’t have an eta. (it probably won’t be on the next version)
To be clear, matching is based on if it got metadata, not if the file was recognized as existing and belonging to that type of library. If your file is named wrong and completely ignored it won’t be there at all to filter. Such as putting a tv episode in a movie library. or folks who are using completely wrong tv naming like Show Season one Episode two.mkv (I’m most saying this for passersby who might read this topic not the folks already here who seem to know the difference)
This is exactly what I’m looking for. I’m happy to hear that it will be coming in the near future. I have a fairly big movie library and keep finding some here and there. This will help me clean it up faster.
