I have selected Netflix as one of my streaming services but not all Netflix titles give Netflix as an option under “Watch from these locations”. These are titles that I know are available to me in my country.
Did you perhaps select Netflix from a different country? That’s the 1st thing to check, if not then they might have a problem with the integration of your country’s Netflix Library, if so tag one of the Mods when you reply so they see it & can submit a ticket
7 day and still no fix for “No streaming services found for your region”
I am the only one with this problem.
Please Plex fix this.
@LostOnTheLine - Thanks for the feedback. Updated Expected Behavior to now say:
- Either the user goes back to Watchlist to manually update with episodes watched, or Plex automatically syncs with a service such as Trakt or JustWatch or ReelGood.
This gives the user the option to choose what they want, whether they want to sync automatically or completely move to using Plex as a Trakt/JustWatch/ReelGood replacement.
(Yes, I know Trakt and Reelgood sync, but some people may not therefore I am mentioning both.)
I would appreciate it if you have feedback, questions, comments, or concerns, that you leave them on the feature request thread. I only reposted in the hopes to get a response from Plex. -
My desktop app also showed that message for a few days and today, it just worked.
Thanks, when you say select Netflix from a different country, do you mean if I was maybe using a VPN at the time I selected Netflix as a streaming service? Yes I probably was. But the titles that aren’t showing Netflix for my country are also available for the country whose VPN I was connected to at the time, so that doesn’t make sense to me. Also, Prime Video isn’t affected by this. However, I’ll go and deselect Netflix as a streaming service and reselect it without being connected to the VPN and see what happens.
So I tried deselecting Netflix and reselecting it while not connected to the VPN but it made no difference. What I don’t understand is the problem isn’t with all of Netflix, only some titles. I would tag a mod as you suggested but you didn’t explain how to do that.
Perfectly alright, I would still use trakt even if Plex did all the things, but that’s because I like trakt interface. But if Plex did all the things I’d definitely use it less, & it’d be what I use when watching, I use trakt mostly on a phone to look stuff up, Plex is too much for that, but that’s not a negative on Plex in any way
It’s not about being connected, though being connected means it would probably default to that country. When you are selecting streaming there should be a place where you select the country before you select the providers. As of a couple days ago you couldn’t select things from more than 1 country, that could have changed.
No, I wasn’t given the option to select a country.
I just looked & it appears that option is no longer there. I know it was there because there was some discussion in one of the threads about wanting the ability to select things from more than 1 region. For people who have an account on a streaming service in, say Canada that doesn’t exist in the US, but they also have a US account to other services. Some of those would require the use of a VPN, while others only require you pay for your service with a Card that has a zip code in Canada or the like. The feature is obviously still evolving, so hopefully there’s a fix for you soon. As it stands I don’t see any way to select a country or control which country it thinks you are in, so maybe try disconnecting from the VPN, then restart your server & login to the web app from an incognito tab so it doesn’t use any stored data. Then select the services again. That’s the only thing I can think of, but it has probably a very low chance of doing anything
I would like to give some feedback about the Universal Watchlist.
I think the general idea behind the watchlist is great, but when I add content that’s also present in my local libraries, the fact that it doesn’t respect the carefully curated posters/backgrounds/metadata of these items is very jarring.
Right now, each time there’s an item added to the watchlist it becomes a representation of what’s on https://watch.plex.tv. I think it would be much better if after detecting that a particular item is also present in a local library it would respect how this local item is displayed.
Specifically, I’m talking about matching:
- Poster
- Background
- Title
- Studio
- Summary
- Directors
- Writers
- Genre
I find that I would use the watchlist a lot more if the items in there would be displayed the same way they are in my local libraries. Because right now, the visual clash that happens with the items I add to the watchlist doesn’t really make me want to use it much.
Does it make sense?
Would it be appropriate to create a feature request about that?
I’ve made this comment myself before as well. I think at the very least there should be an option as to which to show. Especially when you have foreign stuff it is super annoying to have a poster in another language
Totally agree. It actually reminds me of the jarring and annoying experiences that is with Netflix.
I know WHY Netflix does it but I hate it myself… but what happens is they include dynamic artwork that changes pretty often when you are browsing up and down these pages in their catalog. It’s all psychological.
What it does is causes you to peruse through the selections that are given, but as soon as you venture in and out, view content cards, the cover artwork changes to another different artwork even though it’s EXACTLY the same film or tv show, just includes a different actor and backdrop.
It’s giving this impression that there is much more to view on the screen when in actuality their just trying to fool you to watch exactly what’s presented in front of you. Understandably this isn’t Plex’s intention but the fact that film artwork is not cohesive between the Discover/Watchlist and the locally sourced media, plays visual tricks and it’s an awful experience.
Thanks again for your help. I’ve already tried restarting server, etc and I can’t be bothered trying anything else. If I can’t watch shows/movies from Plex that are available in my country because Plex doesn’t think they are then I’m just going ignore Discover altogether until they get it working better.
I think that’s not it at all, after all, Netflix has a lot, so they have no need to try to appear bigger. I think the intent is that you passed over the title before, maybe a different picture may make you interested. Maybe the other poster features an actor you like or tells you something about different about it, like okay it has aliens, I don’t care… But wait, look at those cool special effects, maybe I want to watch that just for the Sakuga
Call me spoiled from being accustomed to all the time spent curating, customizing, and finding specific artwork for all these film box sets and collections in my library. It’s just annoying to visit other streaming interfaces where things constantly move or need to be animated all the time. General speaking, we often know where stuff is in a Plex server due to the customization. Don’t care for cool effects of the interface as long as it’s actually in the library and plays correctly.
I agree with you for the most part. But them my Plex server hosts the stuff that I have. The Artwork of my Blu-ray doesn’t change… Though, not gonna lie, it’d be cool if it did… But when I go to Netflix most of the time I know what I want to watch before I get there, in which case the getting to it part is super annoying. The new Watchlist helps with that. But sometimes I want to watch something, & not something I already know about. Usually when scrolling through to get to my continue watching I happen to see things that make me think “Maybe I wanna watch that later” so I add it. Now I do appreciate the fact that it might change & I will see something that looks interesting & realize that I looked at it before & didn’t add it, but THIS time I was drawn in. Would I rather just have my continue at the top where it should always be so I don’t have to scroll to get to it? Of course. But if I did my Netflix watchlist would not have so many things on it, & I might not start another series on Netflix when I finish the one I’m on, I might go somewhere else. So it makes perfect sense from a business prospective & I appreciate it more that I consciously realize because I’ve definitely watched shows that the poster caught my attention that I wouldn’t have otherwise.
A few missing features that make it hard to switch from justwatch:
- Need filters on lists, e.g. all movies with a rating above some threshold. Also categories, dates, etc.
- The search box (on web) misses a lot. Try searching for “Rake”. The US version is found, but not the Amazon Prime streaming of the original Australian. Justwatch finds it, so the API must work. The search box on web forces you to select something instead of opening a window with all the results.
- No way to disable Plex results. If I know I’ll never watch something with ads, then having the search results full of Plex content is a deal breaker. You might view my wanting to disable your revenue source as a deal breaker, so perhaps this service will never attract people who don’t want to watch Plex content.
@pl43332, i am in the same boat as you as far as I don’t use the free plex content. That said, doesn’t it just show as “one of the options”? Its not like it brings it to the front of the list, ahead of your server does it? I guess, why does it matter is my thought, at least in terms of being a deal breaker too me.
Filters would be cool.
