I finally installed Jellyfin on my Fire Stick 4k and it never gives me any problems, so clearly is a Plex software issue and not an Android issue.
It does annoy me that I have to run two server instances, two apps and pay $25 for the year of OTA guide service because Plex has had issues with live tv for so long… but at least with JF I have a reliable DVR and can watch a channel for more than 5 mins.
Even if plex refuses to fix the bug, they could at least allow the old player to work, like they did previously. Are they really trying to force users to use other apps?
same issue here! very annoying as I just switched over to Amazon Fire 4k from Roku due to lack of HBO Max support on the latter! Geez, this seems to be pervasive…
Hello @sixones. Can you look into this issue that we are all having with Fire Stick 4k and Plex Live TV?
I would be happy to provide additional logs if the ones I attached in my post are not enough.
No, it doesn’t have anything to do with the HDHomerun firmware. Plex made changes in the Android TV app back in September and broke Live TV. To prove this, I have downgraded my Fire Stick 4k to version 8.5.2.20133 and everything is working perfectly. Even the transcoded live TV stream shows up on my Dashboard. Live TV has been playing perfectly for the last 20 minutes.
Having this issue using a HDHomeRun Connect Duo on both my Chromecast w/ Google TV and CCC Airstick 4K. As others above have said, the issue seems to be the fault of the Android TV Plex client, which I updated to version 8.10.0.21911 today and have confirmed that Live TV is still broken. DVR seems to work fine.
I am using the Google Live Channels app on Android TV with the HDHR app as the channel source, absolutely no issues there. I’d like to be able to tune multiple TVs to the same channel and share one tuner, however…
I have a quad channel HDHomeRun. I haven’t updated the firmware. This is the first that I’ve used plex in a while, and this is phreakin’ annoying. Disabling the transcode of interlaced video seems to have stopped the issue; however, the audio / video sync suffers a little bit. crazy stuff, especially if Plex hasn’t logged the bug.
My Plex server runs on windows 10 so…
The fire tv playback broke somewhere in august or September. In October or so the windows app broke too. I’m now down to iOS. I can cast from iOS to a chromecast (not 4K) which works. That implies it’s not all Android apps… changing any sort of transcoding settings or using the old player hasn’t worked for me, but from the suggestions that seem to work for some users, it appears this is related to transcoding somehow. I also tried to record and start delayed watching after 5 minutes but no dice, which is interesting giving I can watch recordings or movies without any hiccups.
Same problem here, I have the older version of shield and it does this. The newer version of the shield (round shaped one) works fine. My Sony smart tv works fine. I have factory reset and reinstalled the older shield, but same issue. I think this is a plex issue on specific devices or android versions.
