I’m having this problem on the Firestick 4k (two devices). At the end of a video plex will fail to play the next. It basically hangs on the last frame of the previously played video or hangs on a black screen when trying to advance to the next. It doesn’t show the countdown screen. If you bring up the player controls it shows it’s playing the previous video again but with no audio/video. You can manually advance to the next video. This happens about 1/3rd of the time the player tries to advance to the next video.
Edit: When the player gets into the stuck state it’s possible to press the fast forward button to skip ahead 30 seconds and it will unfreeze the picture/audio but it’s still replaying the video it just played. Afterwards the next video usually plays without issue.
Here are some logs from two videos. I’ve clipped the player logs from the time I started playing to when it glitches. At the end where it says the player has been paused is about 10 seconds after the video freezes at the end and starts to replay instead of jumping to the next video. The server log starts when I turn on debug logging then play a video until it glitches.

I must also point out this is not happening on my Firestick 2nd Gen [FireOS 5] (2016-2019) only my Firestick 4k 1st Gen [FireOS 6] (2018)
I had this issue myself a month or two back but I don’t think I’ve seen it lately, not sure the reason it seems to have stopped. I was watching a series with PGS subtitles at the time so I wondered if they might be related.
I’m not using subtitles so I don’t think they are related to the problem. I see other threads from months ago outlining this problem too but no resolution. It seems to not mention much useful information in the logs from what I can see but maybe a developer can understand them better.
Would like to point out that the player on the firestick 4k is also having trouble playing the audio 50% of the time or more. The video will play but zero audio. A reboot of the device fixes the issue temporarily.
I’m using Plex on Android TV here, and I have the same issue. Using a FireTV Toshiba TF-55A810U21 with Plex version 8.9.1.21693. Server version 1.20.3.3483.
It happens after almost every episode of any show, which makes the app fairly useless. After playing an episode, it will either repeat the same episode without A/V and move on to the next episode correctly after completing the runtime, or it will show a still frame from the beginning of the episode with no audio. Either way, the runtime will continue (visible with the seek bar) and move on to the next episode, despite the lack of A/V. As with OP, I can seek forward or back and it will play normally from that point onward.
Seems like they should have plenty of logs by this point, but if requested I can provide.
Switching to the old player seems to solve all the issues but it also brings with it a set of completely different problems… such as videos not starting / having to press play multiple times before the video actually plays. I understad the old player will be removed in a future release but please fix the issues with the new player first!!!
