Firestick reboots when Plex playback starts

Just setup a Firestick for my sister and I wanted to add her to my Plex server. I have configured the Plex player app as follows:

  • remote playback: original quality
  • remote audio playback: original quality
  • accept insecure connections: always

I tried two different movies and one episode of a TV show. Each time the result was the same: the buffering ring indicator shows up and then the Firestick reboots immediately. I can not find anything on the internet about such behavior. This is the first time I’ve seen this.

Worth mentioning is that there are two Firestick 4K streaming from the same server without issues, but this is the plain Firestick with up to 1080p support. My media is up to 1080p.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Having the same issues here.

4 fire sticks all exactly the same issue.

Hi,
I had your same problem, and I solved it by disabling the new Video Player in Plex Settings.
