FireTV - "New Player" stops streaming from my own Live TV & DVR

I have a Live TV & DVR set-up at another location where I have TV antenna reception. For the past few months I was experiencing live stream freezing after ~ 10 minutes on every channel. In frustration I went digging around and found an option to disable New Player. After that all may remote TV streams are working as usual, no freezes, for hours.

I guess the app defaults to New Player after auto-update by Fire TV and occasionally I have to go back to preferences and disable New Player again.

This has been happening for several months already, so just FYI. This happens on Fire TV regular and Fire TV 4k sticks.

I am having the same issue. It’s been like this for at least 6 months.

With latest Plex update on my Amazon Fire-TV either new or old players behave the same, the streaming stops after 4-5 minutes. Every. Single. Time.

Same here. Old player or new, the fire stick 4k drops back to the guide from the live tv stream. No issues on other devices. Very frustrating.

This is still happening - any plans on fixing this? I am using Hulu for now… but WTF really?

I’ve been using this workaround of turning off the “new player” everytime the app updated on my firestick (or walking my parents through it) but after this most recent update there is no longer an option to turn it off. The majority of my media is no longer playable, this “new player” either needs to be fixed or at minimum the option to turn it off needs to be returned.
