First time help

hello , not sure how to use this site, but im just trying to find out how to use plex better, i have a smart sony smart tv, and i can connect to the plex media server which is a WDPR4100 to the Smart tv but i dont see any of the media i have placed on the Media Server. Any help would be greatly appreciated

is your media showing when you access the Plex Media Server through its web interface (e.g. via https://app.plex.tv/desktop or https://<your-WDPR4100’s-IP-address>:32400/web)?

Not use what exactly you are asking , i can go to the plex sever on the wdpr4100 thur my Mac Pro computer and see my media and i am able to go to the list of media servers on my tv and a list of my network devices show up including the plex server on my WDPr4100 is one of those devices but none of the media i have loaded on plex server on the wdpr4100 show up on my tv there are folders for video , photo and music which i have loaded on the wdpr4100 hard drives but those files are not in the folders on the tv,
i hope that information help, i am not very tech savvy

thanks

tony

My question aimed at figuring out if only have those videos etc. on the WD NAS or if they’re also part of a library inside Plex. Occasionally users assume Plex automatically knows of every file on a computer.

How do you try to access the Plex content from your TV? Do you use the Sony “Videos” app or the actual Plex Client?

Ok first I tried connecting my Thur the tv WiFi interface, where I could see the a list of network devices, and I could see the Plex serve on the NAS

But no files

Second I added the plex app form my tv apps and login to my plex account, then connected to the nas library and could see the library but when I played a movie or looked at a photo they appeared small about 1/3 the size on my tv screen which is 55inch

So the library is available Thur the app but when I connect directly to the server,

If that makes any sense

Thanks
