"Fix Incorrect Match" not working

Hi!
Since some time i have the problem again. “Match” function does not work. I don’t know what should i do…
Server is the latest:

To match a movie click on “Match” on the left:

After that inmediately i got this screen. There is NO searching, just this poput:

Than i click on “Search Options” to manually search the content:

Ang again it just popups this screen. It doesn’t even try to search! I tried with all agents (Plex Movie, Personal Media and The Movie Database), none of them are working:

Auto match does not work also, there are some movies added since days ago, and none of them are matched automatically.

I also stopped plex, deleted the library:
rm -rf "/var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-ins"

Than restarted the whole server (this one helped before), but now nothing is working. I don’t know what anything i could try, i’m frustrated. I think its time to search to an alternative software, because Plex is not as before. I’ve used Plex years long without any problem, but from the time i started this thread i have only problems with it, and cannot see the root cause (from server side nothing was changed).

If you will forgive me. I’m just going to say what I’ve been finding and saying to everyone.

Start turning off IPv6. While the ISP is SUPPOSED to do the IPV6 (of your LAN) to IPV4 correctly before sending out, not every ISP does. AT&T is one who doesn’t. We don’t know why.

In every case. When IPv6 is disabled from the router -> everything inside, it just works. It starts working instantly. The reason is simple: The internet itself is IPv4 and will be for a long time. The Plex servers are IPv4. IPv6 is LAN-only. Oil & Water mix.

Beyond this there is nothing I can say or help with.

Thanks but IPV6 was never enabled in my system… My ISP is working also on IPV4.
But never mind, i switched to MiniDLNA software. I know its smaller, cannot do so much as Plex, but its enough.
I had never problem with Plex mediaserver until a few months ago. Since that time i always had this f…king error. Once after an upgrade it was working a week or two, than the "Match"ing function stopped again. Ok… A server restart had it solved… for a few days. Since the last upgrade its worser, it is impossible to get this function to work again. Deleting the corresponding files and restarting does not help anymore, nor the server restart. So its enough, i had stopped my accound, will not pay for it anymore. Sorry.

I haven’t been having issues lately and I don’t know what fixed it (I didn’t turn IPV6 off) but I thought i’d throw my 2 cents in anyways. Since matching worked previous to an update that seems to have caused the problem, I think Plex should fix the issue and not be telling people to turn things off. If you’re running your server on Windows, MS recommends not turning IPV6 off:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/929852/how-to-disable-ipv6-or-its-components-in-windows

I, as a user, just like everyone else… (non-Plex hat here)… . My 2 cents…

Yeah, it all should ‘just work’. Try telling that to AT&T. See how far you get.

I switched ISPs because of the whole IPv6 crap. It had NOTHING to do with Plex. Try streaming Amazon using IPv6 only on some ISPs.

Quoting Microsoft, thinking they control everybody? Respectfully, isn’t that like climbing fool’s hill?

They have no more control than anyone else once it hits the modem/router.

You MUST remember, IPv6 is tunneled in IPv4 until it gets to the destination. When it gets to Amazon, there is NO IPv6 host to receive it.
Why is IPv6 tunneled you ask? Because the Internet is IPv4. IPv6 is LAN-only.

</soapbox>

Edit:

Plex -hat on.

I’m trying to figure out where/how/what is going on. It is not easy. If anyone has a solid technical approach, I’m all ears.

My matching has stopped since 23 March. Never had a problem prior to that.

  • My rips are MKV using MakeMKV.
  • Version 1.3.4.3285.
  • Running on Netgear ReadyNAS 314 for some years
  • IPv6 is disabled in NAS
  • IPv6 is disabled in PMS

Last 3 DVD rips failed to match and the match command just shows the spinning icon, then no match.

Log files which show activity when I click match are the

  • Plex Media Server.log
  • com.plexapp.agents.imdb.log
  • com.plexapp.system.log

The are attached with just the active section.

What I can see is some errors in PMS.log

Error issuing curl_easy_perform(handle): 6

and in the imdb plugin log

Curl error 6. DNS lookup failure. It can’t find IMDB/Themoviedb/TMDB by name to convert to IP.

Check the DNS server settings in your PMS server. Since you can get here, you’ve got DNS working at least somewhere.

If all else fails, use 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 (google DNS)

That’s strange. You are right. I changed my modem/router recently and all machines would delegate to ISP auto supplied DNS hosts. I hard configured the Google ones in the modem and it made no difference, but I now manually configured the Google DNS in the NAS and that fixed it.

Really odd - not sure I understand why - both previous modems would handle DNS for the NAS, but it seems this new DLink router does not…

Thought I understood networks… now I have to reconsider
Thanks

If your modem has a DNS server in it… it should be

a) enabled
b) either forward to the ISP or manually override and forward to google
c) your NAS / computer forward to the modem/router

your other equipment got you to the forum so not sure what you had gotten confused but you had SOME DNS working.

I realised what I’d done. When I setup the new modem, I had to first configure the DHCP address assignment for my internal kit I want using fixed IP, but the NAS was given a DHCP address I didn’t want, so I ‘temporarily’ gave it the fixed IP, not DHCP, until I setup the router, so of course it didn’t get DNS either :frowning: Duh!

Is there any sollution to the “fix incorrect match” option, which is not working anymore? (not even tries to search)

@mcll

I do not understand Macs. The best I can tell you to do is delete the Library, reinstall PMS, build it again at default Library settings until all your metadata is up.

I’m convinced you’ve got old (previously named versions of the same file) in the DB and it’s so far behind / messed up, the best way is to start over.

@ChuckPA

Its not a Mac, than an Ubuntu server.
Could you please write the steps exactly how to fully reset the whole database?

  1. sudo systemctl stop plexmediaserver
  2. sudo rm -rf /var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library
  3. sudo systemctl start plexmediaserver

You now have a fully fresh installation

Thank. But now another problem…
I removed the folder as you described (before i stopped plex). After running plex again i get following error:

I also tried to completely remove Plex (apt-get remove, and apt-get purge), also removed the complete directory (/var/lib/plexmediaserver) and reinstalled from the latest deb file. But i have that xml error again.
What should i do now?

Edit: okay, my fault, forgot the /web after the port number… So 192.168.1.xx:32400/web is working.

BUT!
The server was starting, showing some hints, and after it, the Server Setup screen was coming. Scanning for a few seconds, and i got the next error:

Ok a step forward. Tried to setup the new library, but cannot save now… grrr:

OK found it out, it was a problem with user permission. Now i can save.

Okay, everything is now from scratch. Old plex completely removed, all folders for Plex deleted (also Library). Installed latest plex, added movie folder, plex agents are in place. Hit on “Fix Incorrect match” button, but still no search, nothing, no rolling circle, than inmediately i get this picture. Even if i try to research with “Search options” with all variations:

So it seems that making a fresh installation does not helped…
I do not have Ipv6 on my system, my router does not have any settings enabled for that (my ISP also do not use ipv6, UPC).

What next?

Perform one more search/fix (so It’s in the logs and fresh)

Pull the full log set

I will go ask the dev team.

We (and I) need to figure out why this is happening. Why just you?

You mean to run this?

Or if not than how?
