I have a large number of folders under my TV Series folder. However, I added a folder called “C.B. Strike.” However, it isn’t appearing even as a blank. I changed the name to “CB Strike” but its still not appearing. What could be causing this?
I highly suggest, if the Show is a real one, you use the official name and include the release year of the show in the folder name. If you do not, Plex will try its hardest to match the name to any other show. In this particular case, searching for “C.B. Strike” on TheMovieDB (which Plex uses to match against by default for TV Shows), returns the Show “Strike”, a murder mystery series based on the books by J.K. Rowling. Since the main character is named “Cormoran” (unknown middle name), it’s possible you are referring to this show, but the uncertainty may cause Plex to match this show to another you own, creating “duplicate” files.
“Duplicate” TV Show episodes from a problem like this can be looked for quickly. In the TV Show Library view, look in the upper left. There should be folder filters labeled “**All”, “TV Shows”, and “By Title”. This means you are viewing all your TV Shows, then filtering those by title. Click on “TV Shows” and pick “Episodes”, then click on the “All” filter and pick “Duplicates”. This will show any Episodes Plex think are duplicates of another because of an improper match.
If this is not the problem, then we may need to see your folder structure and a sample of how you label your episodes. The article linked at the top of my post is important for a reason, as Plex looks for files in a very specific way, and if you do not conform to it, you will encounter all kinds of issues.
For example, for Strike, you would have a folder structure and filename for the first episode similar to the following. The bolded word is where my TV Show library points at:
\\NAS\media\Videos\ TV Shows\Strike (2017)\Season 01\S01E01 - The Cuckoo’s Calling - 1.mkv
