Folder view has gone missing, again

Amazon Firecube client, the folder view is not a choice now, just gone.
Some recent update, and now we have ‘collections’ which are useless to me… I created a couple but they don’t show up under the collections tab, they just look like other shows/movies in the Library view. I have thousands of movies, let’s not even count TV episodes… I do not want to go create collections one at a time… that is ridiculous.
We could before select ‘Folder’ for the view, and find the folders, which have been arranged for years… and worked just fine.
Where is my folders view this time?

I’m not aware it was gone and won’t argue about it making sense to have folder view or not.
You can find it where it’s been for some time now:
Select how Plex is to present your media

  • in a movie-type library, click on “Movies” to select if you want to display the media by Movies or Folders
  • in a tv-show type library, click on “Shows” to select if you want to display the media by Shows, Seasons, Episodes or Folders
  • in a music type library, click on “Artists” to select if you want to display the media by Artist, Album, Track or Folder

I’ll work on collections as time permits, and once those are done then folders won’t matter, but going from having my collections sorted already (in fodlers) to having to label them all when there are thousands is not cool.
But, I found another thread, plenty of folks with the same issue on the Amazon Fire Devices… I just check our Firestick in the family room and found it is also doing the same thing., so testing now to see if a reinstall of client fixes it as it did for others.

Do you have the same issue as the user in that thread? (old/outdated version of Plex Media Server and a not-up-to-date version of Plex on your FireTV)

I just reinstalled the Firestick client, same issue there.
Server version is 1.16.6
Latest thing in my QNAP store… although I just checked and see a newer package available on the Plex site, so as soon as I get it downloaded I’ll manually update.
I am not sure why this just started, since it looks like I have been running that version since November.
Maybe it is a combination of that and a FireApp update? (that should be android I think)
Off to do another update I guess.
Hopefully that fixes it…

Updating servr now, but it seems to only be the android clients on my Firecube and Firestick.
Web interface from the PC still works, and the app on my Sharp TV still has Folder view.
if all else fails I may need to revert to the TV apps… we almost never use the actual TV… just the Fire devices.

So, before I updated the server package I restarted the Firestick.
I had already reinstalled the app on the stick, and that had not worked…
However, it is now working like it used to…
Updating the server anyway.
No idea why the app, on two devices, was acting up, just as of this weekend.
My daughter says the one on her Firestick in her room was still showing folder view last night… so I am clueless.

Final solution for anyone searching…
Uninstalled, reinstalled FireStick app
Restarted FireStick

Had cleared cache as suggested in another post, but did not restart the firestick, this may be enough, but was not tested.
Updated server anyway for good measure
