I use Media Center Master to auto rename my Shows and Movies, but sometimes Plex starts adding the info before MCM renames the file. This means Plex finds the correct metadata, but the title and sort title displayed are not correct. Does anyone know of a way to force Plex to fix these without me having to manually clean them up?
No, there is no sane way.
The correct method would be to prepare the files ‘out of sight’ of Plex
and only move them into a Plex-monitored folder after everything is done.
Or disable automatic library updates.
you’re using an app to manage the movie/show metadata (and I assume embed it?) before pushing it on your server who’ll basically do the same?
if you don’t want Plex to pull metadata of its own… change the agent to Personal Media Shows and activate Use embedded metadata in the advanced library settings. However… from what I’ve seen when briefly looking at their homepage, MCM will use the exact same sources as Plex – so I don’t think this will give you different titles / sort titles…
or do you use MCM solely to re-name the files?
if so… why not store them in a separate folder first and move them into Plex’ “range” after processing them?
I thought MCM renamed them and then copied, but I guess not. I will see if I can get MCM to switch.
