It’s been well reported on the Sony Android TVs, that Plex (or maybe it’s the Sony Audio codecs) are unable to correctly handle a file with a DTS audio track. It drops it to 2.0 stereo PCM.
There was a workaround where if you then told the player to ‘Convert Automatically’, it would transcode the audio track to AC3 and provide a 5.1 output. However, with the new and improved ExoPlayer released in the past few weeks, that workaround no longer fixes the track and you are left once again with PCM stereo. On the Playback Info screen it states ‘Audio . Copy (DTS)’
I have tried playing a TrueHD audio track, Plex detects it can’t handle it and correctly transcodes to EAC3 with 5.1 output. On the Playback Info screen it states ‘Audio . Transcode (TrueHD-EAC3)’.
My question - How can we make Plex detect that it needs to Transcode the DTS to AC3 rather than Copy and play it as PCM 2.0? Are we able to tweak an XML file in the config somewhere?
