Free Plex vs Plex Pass - Can a free Plex user share his/her Plex library or do you need Plex Pass to share

Currently my son has ownership of my NAS server through his Plex account and we did it this way, because he has purchased Plex Pass.

I’m a little unclear on the pros and cons of having the user with a Plex Pass own the NAS server. If it were reverted to me, would I still be able to share it back to him. Could I share it with other family members?

What features if any would I lose if I do it this way versus the other way around?

I think I’m now accessing his files as a shared user and am not sure what additional benefit I get given that he has Plex Pass.

Thanks

This article explains the differences:

I don’t think the article addresses the question of whether a free account would be able to share in the same way a plex pass account would to other users.

Also, If I share my Plex server with a user who is a plex pass holder, would the plex pass holder automatically be able to view trailers even though I wouldn’t be able to for my movies?

Yes, a free user can share their server, but you need to specifically share libraries or items, but you cannot set up restrictions or labels.

Nope. These come from the server and the owner of that admin must have the Plex Pass.
