Freeview EPG/Missing Channel Data

@sa2000 We in the UK don’t run 1 hour behind to watch TV, and it’s those “Few Others” that you said are the channels we watch. So this more than needs fixing now! As I have mentioned in a post before, Emby don’t miss channels and neither does my 42 inch smart TV, I mean my 3½ year old has more brains to notice we’re missing channels to!!
We in the UK don’t like being messed about with TV listings so I’m going back to using a different one, and not listening to any more advice from you, if it comes from @cire12 or @ChuckPa then I class these guys as more knowledgeable than you… Sorry Buttercup

Dave

Yes it is very clear - but the solution needs to be ok also for all countries and lineups - and with just one name field shown, it may not be clear in all cases and carries a higher risk.

Anyway, this is not a show stopper - and I am finding out when the beta hotfix will come out to add the full name

Oh now Buttercup is telling us there’s going to be a hotfix! We need regional in algorithm lineups and all the channels. I’m about to use the FreeView play lineup as this is more accurate than the OTA lineup

Buttercup if you need more help, ask, but Plex needs to listen and listen good before everything goes live properly you really need to listen to us beta testers and take note that we are talking sense about the EPG in the UK needs to be regional rather than saying “No, we don’t think so” this just drives home the fact that Plex and Buttercup aren’t really listening to users and forcing stuff on us, like the content you made above saying we have E4+1 to get around this… FORCED!!

Right, it’s Sunday lunch time, and Plex is the least of my worries till this evening… So Buttercup, we’ll let you sink in the UK effect and the fact that region’s are more important than you think and realise and algorithms aren’t good for Plex, only in Zuckerberg world…

Dave

Freeview Wales OTA Broadcast is regional - so i do not understand your comments here. I am saying use the regional Freeview OTA lineup

The anomalies which I mentioned are being referred to our guide provider. If there are more that are missing and were present before - please let me know

The hotfix is for the cryptic channel names.

Form submitted.
BBC Scotland Channel & BBC Scotland Channel HD - don’t exist in the EPG.
In Scotland this channel sits on channel 009,
Because BBC Scotland Channel sits at 009 then BBC Four is all the way down to 82 (Scotland Only, not nationally)

(It should also be noted that BBC 2 Scotland ceased and is now the national broadcast of BBC2 - but I didn’t mention in the form as I don’t think it really matters. It would probably confuse a lot of people who don’t know that BBC 2 Scotland doesn’t exist anymore)

I wondered why BBC4 was showing up in the 80’s here to!
Speaking of missing channels Now 80’s and Now 90’s, and as for Movies4Men, we like the Movie Channel in our family, so so others, so it’s important!
As I said, here in the UK we treat our TV with way more respect than other countries, where region’s and exact channels actually mean something.
Anyway… I’ve had enough for now, Plex is about to create WW3 in my household and remote users because of how bad we’re being treated. It’s taken me 6 months to get this far, let’s see which one of us can keep up the merry go round of how bad Plex is and finally get it sorted… December was bad enough, but this is a whole different can of worms…
Remove the algorithms and use proper lineups… That’s all we ask

Dave

Any progress on the timescale on when this abomination of an EPG system will be up and running correctly? I’ve been asked to write a review… Mwahaha, the way it stands at the moment, the review will be not as bright as it would’ve been with Gracenote providing the EPG.
@sa2000 You mentioned the EPG provider will fix this issue?? Who is this may I ask? Plex? If this is the case, we can wait an eternity to get a fix, this EPG is rushed out just as the TV side was, it needs more time for testing and perfecting, and the right channels in the right lineups to.
There’s another thread going on at the moment, and a number of users are airing the same issues as I am, regional data is a must, and the correct channels to.

Dave

@sa2000 a few other users may have some words of wisdom for you in this thread… Now don’t go upsetting them though …

New EPG and release

Dave

I have words of Wisdom, I use Digiguide in the UK for my TV listings - if there is any provider in the UK capable of delivering a good system, that’s the one I would recommend.

Example: Taskmaster tonight on Dave via the wonderful new EPG provider:

Greg Davies and Alex Horne set a group of celebrities a series of tasks.

Digiguide:

This Is Trevor. Series 8, episode 7.
Joe Thomas grapples grumpily with some awkward hand-wear, Sian Gibson seems to find proof that she may be psychic and Iain Stirling shows some tasty shortbread who’s boss.
(Widescreen, Subtitles)

Starring: Greg Davies, Alex Horne, Joe Thomas, Sian Gibson, Iain Stirling

Massive difference in quality, another example - here is Family Guy on ITV2 tonight:

Animated antics of the constantly grousing Griffins, a family that put some fun in dysfunctional. While dad Peter is a tad dim and lazy, mom Lois is none of the above. Then there are hapless teens Meg and Chris; sassy baby Stewie, who’s wise (and a wise guy) beyond his years; and family dog Brian, who might be the smartest of the lot. Series creator Seth MacFarlane voices many of the regular characters. In 2002, Fox dumped the show, but revived it in 2005 after it became a top-selling DVD.

versus Digiguide:

Thanksgiving. Series 10, episode 6.
Lois prepares a Thanksgiving meal for friends and family, and Joe is shocked when his son Kevin Swanson, a soldier who was missing in action, returns from Iraq. Animation following the misadventures of the Griffin family, with the voice of Seth MacFarlane.
(Audio Described, Subtitles, 1999, 4 Star)

Starring: Seth MacFarlane, Alex Borstein, Seth Green, Mila Kunis, Patrick Warburton

Marked By: 'Seth Macfarlane' and 'Favourite: Family Guy' markers

Copyright (c) GipsyMedia Limited.

Even the Freeview OTA EPG:

Thanksgiving: Animated US comedy. Lois cooks a big Thanksgiving meal and invites the whole crew over for dinner. Joe is shocked when his formerly MIA son Kevin returns from Iraq. [S,AD] S10 Ep6

Note no part of the EPG provider actually describes what will happen in the episode, it’s just a generic description of the show itself, NOT the episode. This really is not good enough.

Is this is for the level of detail we can expect from the provider, or is that expected to become more detailed? @sa2000

@asjmcguireplex I’ve found out where they’re getting the lineup etc from… direct from Freeview themselves. not sure if Freeview is good enough as of the missing channel 235, but if they were to swith to another guide provider things would be a little different?
Oh, the other reason why the data is all over the place is it’s from April 2019, just before all the retunes began… here’s hoping @sa2000 and @cire12 get this fixed before July 1st when this beast is supposed to be totally live to all after we have been testing it… so far, we have found the errors, but not a lot is being done???

Dave

If they are getting the data directly from Freeview, they need to have a word - because even the Freeview website provides more information than they are getting:

Website:

Series 9 Episode 18: The Big Bang Theory
Subversive animated comedy about the trials and tribulations of American family life. Stewie and Brian go back in time to stop Bertram from killing Stewie’s ancestor, Leonardo da Vinci.

EPG:

S9·E19 - Foreign Affairs
Animated antics of the constantly grousing Griffins, a family that put some fun in dysfunctional. While dad Peter is a tad dim and lazy, mom Lois is none of the above. Then there are hapless teens Meg and Chris; sassy baby Stewie, who’s wise (and a wise guy) beyond his years; and family dog Brian, who might be the smartest of the lot. Series creator Seth MacFarlane voices many of the regular characters. In 2002, Fox dumped the show, but revived it in 2005 after it became a top-selling DVD.

Look at that - apart from the description being completely useless, it’s not even the right episode number.

I was referring to the list of channels

Actually that is false news.

Most of the errors listed in this post Freeview EPG/Missing Channel Data - #31 by asjmcguireplex were corrected

Is the wrong episode showing in the grid?
What channel ? time? Is this the lineup Freeview Scotland (Border) OTA Broadcast ?

The issue with the description being at the show level and not the episode level is already being looked into and was raised in another forum topic and was acknowledged in this post New EPG and release - #15 by anon18523487

I assumed it was, but it seems this time it’s the Official Freeview website which is incorrect. The Plex EPG and the OTA EPG both say Family Guy S9E19 at 11:35pm on ITV2. The Freeview Website claims it is S9E18. So your data provider is correct.

@sa2000 Just to mention missing channels, Now 80’s and Now 90’s and kix! Is now Pop Max, I know on the Freeview s website it’s Pop Max also.
If I see anymore missing channels I’ll let you know. Please delay the public release of the server as you’ll only have more users moaning from July 1st

Dave

Thank you. 83 and 84 (Now 80’s and Now 90’s) are on my list

I think Kix changed name to Pop Max - so should be ok and will show correctly when matching with the hotfix release. Google search for kix and pop max and freeview i found references to that

Not sure how to explain this one in the form, it’s easier with pictures
There are issues with the Season/Episode numbers of the soaps (I cannot see what is happening)

This is direct from the Freeview EPG (online), which is only showing an Episode number

When looking at this in Plex, it is giving this

This is what todays episode should be, this is from Shedules Direct/Gracenote

dailysoapscorrect

This is on Channel 5, which is a national channel, not regional, so listing are the same everywhere in the UK

Thanks - i can see it is showing as S81 E10 on my grid
Will look into it
