Fresh install - Server set up not availble, going strait to plex.tv app site. No GUI so cannot get to 127.0.0.1

Hi All,

I have completed a fresh install of Plex on Ubuntu Server 18, no GUI installed. To run server set up the server set up it says go to 127.0.0.1 to do the set up but it is just redirecting me to the plex.tv. When I try and access from the servers normal IP, Not loopback I get the redirect to the main plex site and cannot set up the server. Is there a process to do the server set up if you cannot access 127.0.0.1/web?

Any help would be appreciated.

If you’re using PMS on a machine with no GUI (headless) then you need to use a browser from somewhere else.

If the server is on your LAN, you can open it by IP:32400/web directly.

If on a different LAN (e.g. remote), you need to SSH-tunnel to it so you can then perform the emulated 127.0.0.1:32400/web

At some point, just to be prudent you should also make sure PMS is running (ps -ef | grep -i plex)
