I am also getting this notice on my Amazon Fire Stick TV. I don’t own a controller for it, only the default remote.
Got the same issue here, can click thru it though.
Ideas ??
Looks like your developers just accidentally unchecked the FireTV Remote as an acceptable controller when uploading the new version to Amazon: every other app I have on my Firestick lists both the Remote and the Game Controller as possible inputs when viewing the app info, but Plex’s app info now just lists the Game Controller only.
I am still running 7.27.1 since I side load beta releases and got the message.
Same problem here. Have never had a game controller and don’t intend on buying one.
Please fix this.
Can confirm, same issue on firetv stick.

Good evening,
I would like to report a minor bug. I was recently updated to v7.28.015501 on the Amazon Fire TV running Fire OS 5.2.7.2 . Since the update I am getting a warning ‘Game Controller not Detected’ when launching Plex. I am able to launch anyway so it’s not hindering my experience within the app. Here is Reddit article with others experiencing the same issue.

Thanks guys, keep up the good work.

Thanks for the report!
That is (very) unexpected and we will resolve it as soon as possible.
I don’t think this is really a Plex app issue. I have my app “pinned” at 7.23.0.13018 and I’m getting it too, every time launch it.
Unless the issue is the Plex app identifies itself as a “game” to FireOS instead of a video service, so the Fire Stick thinks you need a controller to use it.
Same here asking for a game controller. Then when I click continue anyway after a long wait with the Plex logo I can see the main screen but the circle just goes round and round.
Several reboots later still the same

exactly the same issues here.
Also getting the game controller message on my 4k Firestick. In addition, now it won’t play any 4k files at their native resolution. Transcodes them all to 1080p.
Getting same prompt. Is it possible this is due to a server update? I have multiple fire TV clients and updated the server yesterday to 1.18.7.2434 when this started. Unless, coincidentally, all 4 of my clients updated in the background on the same day. I was not getting this message before yesterday (when I updated the server).
Amazon says they fixed it.
You may have to go to Settings>Manage Applications >Plex and Force Stop the app then it should launch correctly
nope, i even uninstalled it, reinstalled it, same thing, even did a factory reset on the firestick, same thing.
odd. I would not think they are doing any sort of staged rollout of fix. Will let our android guys know to ask Amazon about it.
i stand corrected, maybe it was just a fluke, but i did another factory reset just now, and it works again, sorry for the confusion. the only thing i did different this time was actually delete the app from “your apps” on amazon’s website.
