Server Version#: 1.18.4.2171
Player Version#:4.19.2
I am running Plex Media Server ( 1.18.4.2171) on a Windows 10 desktop PC, which has an ethernet connection (192.168.1.2) to the router (192.168.1.1). All my media files are on a MyCloud Home NAS, which also has an ethernet connection (192.168.1.3). I am using the Samsung App (4.19.2) on a TV which also has an ethernet connection (192.168.1.4). The Samsung App says it was last updated on 1/21/2020. Everything was working fine until today. I was watching movies last night at 1 am, but when I turned on the TV tonight at 8 pm I get āserver unavailable.ā
I did everything the various KB articles and previous experience said to do - rebooted the computer, rebooted the router, rebooted the NAS, logged out of the media server, logged out of the app, reinstalled the app, changed the app settings to allow fallback to insecure connections, but the Samsung app still canāt see my Plex Media Server or my media.
I changed nothing on the computer or the NAS or the TV since last night, but something has obviously changed without my knowing it. What is the problem? I donāt know what else to try.
Glad to see Iām not the only one going through this! For sec, I thought I was trippingā¦
The strange thing is that several hours earlier I had just viewed some media through my Plex Roku app and it was fine. Now I donāt understand what the world happen. I didnāt change any settingsāthe only thing that sticks out is that I attempted to update not too long ago and since then it, itās claiming my server is āunavailableā.
**Update: Ok, seems like whatever happened seemed to have sorted itself out at least for now and itās working again.
Same here. I have not installed or updated or changed ANYTHING in many days - even Windows Update hasnāt run since 1/21. I literally turned off the PC and the TV last night at 1 am, turned on the TV for the first time today at 8 pm, and the Plex server was unavailable. My other Samsung streaming apps are all working normally, and Plex works on the computer. Iāve been using Plex for several years, and this has never happened to me before.
I already checked the TVs firmware, and it is current, and has not been updated recently. The Plex app on the TV is the latest one - updated 4 days ago. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the Plex app, and that did not help. The TV is on a wired connection. Everything on my network is wired except the printer and my tablet.
I just tried the Plex app on my tablet, and it works fine. This suggests that the problem is with the Samsung TV Plex app, but as nothing has changed on the TV since last night, I find this to be mysterious.
Thatās a good article. I had already entered the IP addresses of every device on my network in the server settings field āList of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without authā before I posted on the forum, and that did not fix the problem.
However, when I turned on Remote Access (I have never turned that on before) and copied the āPrivateā IP address to the āList of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without authā field, and modified it to end in ā0/24ā, then restarted the server and restarted the Plex TV app ⦠VOILA! It is now working.
This is still mystifying, because I never had to enter anything in the authorized IP addresses field before in the 4 years Iāve been using Plex.
Thanks for your help and the article reference. I have bookmarked it.
Iām not paranoid, and no, I didnāt include the netmask previously. The support links I had found did not mention it, so I never thought of that. Thanks again. Iām off to bed as itās 2 am here.
I have a similar setup and the same issue - WD PR2100 NAS is running my Plex Media Server (1.18.4.2171) with a Plex Media Client on Windows 10. Everything was working fine up until this morning (UK time). Now the Plex Admin user cannot reach my Plex server on any device (apart from my Android phone which is really bizarre) whereas managed users can. You have to question what changes have been made to the Admin user behind the scenes. This is not a connectivity issue as if it was it would impact managed users too. I watched a film on Plex whilst signed in as the Admin user last night. Now 12 hours later I cannot.
What is so strange is that there were no detectable hardware or software or firmware updates anywhere in my network. I did get a new ISP 2 weeks ago - changed from DSL to cable, with a new router and modem, but it has been working perfectly for those 2 weeks, and neither router nor modem had had a firmware update, and the ISP told me they had not made any changes. I am the only user, I have only 1 computer and 1 TV. My computer hadnāt changed, my TVās app hadnāt changed ⦠but something changed. I have never had to enter IP addresses into the Plex settings before.
